Denise Huskins and her boyfriend Aaron Quinn were awoken in the middle of the night to masked intruders demanding that it was a robbery and they needed to comply. Denise and Aaron were then forced to take sedatives, and Denise was given the instruction to tie up her boyfriend, Aaron. Aaron was then escorted down to the couch, and Denise was taken out of the house and loaded into the trunk of the car. When Aaron came to the next day and called the police, the Vallejo, California police did not buy his story. And when Denise Huskins turned up two days later, they deemed the case as California's own version of the Hollywood thriller, Gone Girl.
