93 How To Live Authentically

Listen Later

As a society, we often glorify results over connection. It's easy to lose sight of what truly matters: authenticity and being genuine. Society often emphasizes the importance of achievements, and through the lens of an achiever, authenticity might seem secondary. What I have learned is that authenticity fosters trust, communication, and resiliency with ourselves, partners, children and those we work with.

Below I have found these three tips helpful towards orienting oneself in this direction.

1. Prioritizing Authenticity

We've been inundated with constructs and unrealistic expectations of perfection, leading us to prioritize external validation over being true to ourselves. Authenticity means showing up as your genuine self, aligned with your values, rather than conforming to societal expectations. Confidence and trust naturally blossom when we embrace our true selves, even in moments of vulnerability.

2. Battling Imposter Syndrome

Imposter syndrome plagues achievers with self-doubt despite their qualifications and accomplishments. The pursuit of perfection and comparison traps often lead to feelings of being an imposter. By embracing our values and purpose as guiding lights, we can navigate through these murky waters with compassion and understanding for ourselves and others.

3. The Power of Connection

True leadership transcends job descriptions; it's about setting an example through actions, mindset, and behavior. Leadership starts with understanding and connecting with oneself and others on a human level. When we lead with compassion and genuine connection, we create environments where people feel safe to be themselves, fostering motivation and inspiration.

As we navigate our professional or personal journeys, let's remember that authenticity is not a weakness but a strength. It's the foundation upon which trust, communication, and resilience are built. Embracing our true selves not only enriches our lives but also empowers those around us.
