A Daily Walk on Oneplace.com

The Gospel of Luke continues to receive our attention here today, and chapter four serves as a source of great encouragement as we set out to overcome temptation. Pastor John will soon show us how Christ utilized the Word of God as a counter measure to satan’s attacks in the wilderness. We’d do well to follow His example. John focuses on the temptation of Christ, and then the temptation of the Christian.

We face temptations to sin virtually every day. Is it possible to resist and be victorious over it? Christ was and we can too if we’ll follow His example. So He not only understands temptation but also can help us when we face it. That’s our focus today on a Daily Walk. Our teacher as always is John Randall. We’ve been studying the gospel of Luke here lately. And we’re about to enter into chapter four which speaks of the temptation of Jesus.

As we continue making our way through the glorious pages of Luke’s Gospel we pay a visit to chapter three. It’s here that we read about John the Baptist, the forerunner of Christ. You gotta love what the Lord did through this guy, who wasn’t afraid to speak about repentance, he was quick to point people to Jesus and not himself, and the foundation of his preaching was the Word. That’s the sort of preaching and ministry we need to embrace today! Be encouraged in that direction as we have a look at some of the highlights of John the Baptist’s ministry.

Temptation it’s something we all face in our Daily Walk. Whether it’s to look at something on the internet that we shouldn’t, lash out in anger, or even worry when a trial hits. Today on a Daily Walk we’ll recall a time in King Jesus’ life when He was tempted. It’ll serve to help us the next time temptation strikes our own lives.

I’m sure you’ve seen a few child prodigies in your life. It’s an amazing thing to see a child play the piano like a virtuoso, or a twelve-year old attending college. But never has there been a child like Jesus. Today we’ll return to the latter half of Luke chapter two, and have another look at the early years of Jesus.

In our twenty-four hour news cycle we are barraged with breaking news. Typically it’s not that critical in the scheme of things. But there’s no greater news, nor announcement than that of the arrival of a Savior!

And that’s what we’ll be hearing about today on a Daily Walk. It’s a familiar story and it’s a favorite one especially around Christmas time.
