When you ask a child to identify themselves, inevitably they’ll typically use physical characteristics to define themselves such as hair colour, height, weight etc. they paint a visual picture. However once you start getting into your later adolescent years, and young adulthood there is a sudden depth in the question that seems unsettling.

In this short episode, we discuss the challenges we face when it comes to our identity, and the effects that come with it.

When I asked a poll on Instagram the other week, 100% of you answered that you find it difficult to even relax.

We naturally all become invested into our careers and work life, that we stay in those roles for 8+ hours a day sometimes! And because women have been conditioned to put everyone else’s needs above themselves first, that by the end of the work day, if there are children, pets, or a partner they are typically tended to first before yourself, (if at all). I’ve seen this so many times, read about it, heard about it - you name it. It’s a very common experience. What then ends up happening, is that day in and day you keep up with the demands of life that often women have a hard time knowing who they truly are aside from being in their role. There are so many women out there who are truly incapable of spending time on themselves or with themselves simply because they don’t know how too. Let's talk about it!

Although it is a term of the past, it is still highly present in society today, used against women and their appearance, weight or age for opportunities. I've experienced it, and I'm sure you have too.

There is no doubt there is a common thread we share as Females in the western culture; a big one being the importance and pressure we face towards our appearance. After all, there is a reason that the beauty industry grossed over $530 billion in 2019.

The unspoken rules and expectations for Females today come with its own consequences that affects one’s overall well being and quality of life on a much larger scale.

A key player in our realities is, “Beauty Currency” and what it means, is essentially, that means that women learned to understand their own beauty as a part of this economy.

It's amazing to meet you. I started this podcast because I noticed the overwhelming need for support in young girls and women in order to thrive in today’s society.
