What is a personal manifesto? Really, it's just a list of at least 10 statements that help keep you aligned with your values and your beliefs.
Grab a pencil and some paper because I have an assignment for you today.
Take some quiet time today to write down 3 personal manifesto statements related to your health, 3 more related to your wealth in any of the facets of wealth we discuss here, and 3 more related to your weight.
Use the format:
"I will continue to (action/verb) my (noun)."
Notice that it says "continue to" instead of "start to." Set that intention now. Don't overthink - don't spend more than 2 minutes on each statement.
I'd love to read your results.

We welcome back Genaaleen Sanchez, results and mindset and well-being coach, to discuss energy today and how blocked energy can have detrimental effects on your health and wealth.
The electromagnetic energy that naturally flows through all of us that attracts to us the experiences that we have in life. By allowing stress, anxiety, and fear to stay in the body, the flow of that energy is disrupted and it affects your organ function as well as the people around you.
Something else that can block your energy within your body is something known as open loops, or the law of incomplete. When unfinished projects, plans, or thoughts are sitting in your subconscious, your energy is scattered and anchored in several different places, rather than moving you towards your goals.
Living from a mindset of lack and scarcity becomes a personal truth, in which you're living your life as though you'll never have enough. It becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy, even subconsciously. Every decision we make has a positive or negative effect. When an obstacle gets in the way, you need to decide whether you see it as a stepping stone or as a stop sign. Those neural networks then dictate the proteins and emotions that run the body.
There are 7 core values that we chase, either in a positive way or a negative way, that are also known as "shadow values:"
No matter what hardships you're going through, it all comes down to energy. How you focus your energy, how you see your energy, and how you value and appreciate your energy, in the form of your core values and your shadow values.

As a mother, wife, daughter, it always fell to me to be of service to others. I didn't appreciate myself and I didn't have a relationship with myself. It really hit home when I was on an airplane with my young children and the attendants were giving us instructions to put on my own mask before helping anyone else. At first, it made me angry. Of course, my children would get the air masks first!
Until I realized that if I don't have any oxygen for myself, I couldn't help anyone else. You can't pour from an empty cup. That's why self care is so important. It is the act of doing what you can to keep yourself healthy so that you're able to take care of others. To quote RuPaul: "Who is going to love you if you don't love yourself?"
Part of taking care of yourself is dealing with suppressed emotions such as anger, frustration, and stress. Holding these emotions inside over-taxes your liver, which in turn makes you sick. Weight gain and loss can also be a direct result of suppressed emotions. Suppressed stress and anger certainly contributed to my possible heart attack.
This is key: You need to know who you are, what you stand for, and truly accept and have a relationship with yourself in order to gain real wealth in your life.
You cannot have a relationship with anyone else until you have a relationship with yourself. Your homework for this episode is this: Make a list of all your values. What do you hold near and dear to your heart? What is non-negotiable? What makes you you? Make a list of your beliefs. Then make a list of what you're going to do about it for yourself.

Aline McCarthy had struggled with scoliosis, chronic pain, and rheumatoid arthritis, being resigned to a regimen of pain medications when modern medicine wasn't helping anymore. What she found was that a change of diet in order to heal her microbiome and gut health helped to heal her inflammation. She became a Gyrotonic technique instructor in order to expand her fascia health treatments with her patients and today she shares her tips on how to battle inflammation in your body and fascia.
Aline's top 3 tips for creating personal, emotional, and financial wealth:
Stress has a detrimental effect on overall health. Too much cortisol in your system disrupts your microbiome, ruins your gut lining and the cartilage and connective tissues in your body, and disrupts the other hormones in your body. The result is a cascade of different health problems. In integrative nutritional coaching, we focus on the primary foods first, which aren't actually foods: relationships, sleep, and emotional wellness. The secondary foods are the actual water and nutrition you take in, which can't be digested properly if the primary foods are out of balance.
Aline's daily meditation practice has helped relieve her stress significantly. Knowing that a 20-minute meditation can basically make up for 3 hours of lost sleep has released a lot of tension around parenting and lack of sleep.
Connect with Aline where you can find a lot of tips and tricks on how to decrease inflammation, heal you gut, move with more joy and some lymphatic tips and tricks and releasing their fascia at home.

Today's listener question brings us into detail about eating disorders. There is a strong correlation between weight fluctuation and depression/anxiety. Eating disorders can have lifelong effects on the body.
Anorexia nervosa: a refusal to maintain body weight and an extreme fear of gaining weight, as well as a disturbance in body image. Anorexia often starts with a diet and in response to perfectionism, desire for high achievement, or high pressure situations such as a wedding, which cause the person to crave a sense of control.
Bulimia nervosa: a recurring cycle of binging and purging, using inappropriate compensatory techniques such as laxatives, induced vomiting, and enemas. The binge eating is an attempt to raise seratonin levels, but the pleasure of eating is replaced by the pleasure of the purging.
Binge eating disorder: a compulsion to eat rapidly, secretly, until uncomfortable and disgusted by oneself. Binge eating disorder can happen in response to a VLCD (very low calorie diet) and doesn't include the compensatory techniques that characterize bulimia.
Body Dysmorphia: I myself suffer from body dysphoric disorder. I simply cannot see my body for what it is. Before my wedding, I couldn't see how frail I was becoming. When I was pregnant and tripling my weight, I had no concept of what my body should be like.
Food addiction: a physical and psychological dependence to chemicals that soothe an emotional response, conditioned by psychological trauma and food as a reward. Humans are attracted to psychological trauma. We create it, we put meaning on it, in ways that other animals simply do not. We need to see it for what it is before we make it mean something it's not. Any substance that crosses the blood-brain barrier can become an addiction: food, alcohol, nicotine, chemicals, or even an emotional response.
Phases of addiction:
Addiction follows a reward system. The substance provides a feeling of comfort in reaction to a stressor, which feeds addictive behavior, which creates shame and depression, which is another stressor.
A 2008 study in rats found that sugar activates the opiate receptors in the same ways that cocaine does.
The most powerful takeaway for you today is this: even if you don't have one of these horrendous disorders, do your best to live your life with acceptance and tolerance. You don't know anyone else's struggle. Find something in every day that you are grateful for that you can do. Don't base your day and your worth on how you look.

Feeding a fussy family can be daunting. Different nutritional needs such as allergies and varying diets such as vegan, vegetarian and others can make it very difficult to plan meals for a family without cooking 5 or 6 different meals. So what can we do?
I have 2 picky eaters, one with food allergies, and I eat a plant-based diet. Here are my top tips for making sound nutritional choices for a picky family:
1. Involve everyone in the meal planning. Do what you can to cook separate entrees at the same time with one appliance, like my example with the barbecue. When children are old enough to help, they can cook their own part of the meal. Planning ahead helps with budgeting, shopping, and a sense of ownership when everyone helps.
2. Less shopping, more preparation. Have some meals interchange. Use the same ingredients for different meals, make sauces in large quantities in advance, and don't waste ingredients.
3. Prepare the meals at the start of the day for the whole day. Chop the veggies, portion the meats, lay out the recipes, and make sure everything is ready to go. That way, when it's time to prepare dinner, all you have to do is throw it together and the kids can help.
Here are my tips for making the right nutritional choices:
1. Eat a color rainbow. A beautiful visual variety is more stimulating. Different colors of foods provide different nutrients and all are important.
2. Do the best you can to get organic meats. Avoid meats with antibiotics and growth hormones and possible exposure to glyphosate, or Roundup. Use the CluckAR app linked below to find the best eggs possible at your supermarket.
3. Milk is a tricky one. Cow's milk is not the calcium-booster that the marketing tells us. Soy is GMO, full of glyphosate and artificial estrogens that the body can't process. Nut milks are better, but research the brands. It's actually quite easy to make nut milks at home and it's fun for the family to do.
When feeding your pets, there are some other things to consider.
1. Cats, or felids, need to hunt for their food. That's not to say that your household cat should hunt for everything outside, but I've found that making bits of jerky from the off cuts of meat I'm preparing and putting them inside a cardboard tube is a good treat for my elderly cat, and he also gets exercise and stimulation.
2. Dogs, or canids, are descended from wolves and are opportunistic feeders. They will eat eggs out of nests, scavenge on carrion, and even eat some greens. Plan to give your dog one whole egg a week, shell and all, and if he needs calcium, he'll eat the shell too, once he figures out how to get into it.
Making correct nutritional choices is a matter of a broad spectrum of vitamins and minerals. Involving your family in the preparation and planning is a great lifelong exercise that will benefit everyone.
Do you know how "free range" the eggs at the supermarket really are? Use the CluckAR app to find out. https://www.choice.com.au/about-us/products-and-services/cluckar-mobile-app
