Cris Eli Blak is a writer and performer. He wrote the short film The Brother's Survivor, which was an award winner at the Worldfest Houston International Film Festival. Born and raised in Detroit, Ena first discovered her love for the performing arts at the age of eight. After playing the violin for 13 years and appearing in her first play, Free to Be You and Me, Ena went on to attend Indiana State University where she graduated and earned her B.A. in Music Business/ Entertainment. Ena also graduated from Specs Howard School of Broadcast Arts in Southfield, Michigan. After graduating from Specs, Ena was casted in several plays including Ain’t Nothing Promised, The Joy of Sex and Little Shop of Horrors. She is currently known for The Red Thunder (2015), Hidden America with Jonah Ray (2016), Alicia & Jerome (2018) and Made Public (2019).

"Black bodies and lives have always needed to be of importance. I’m tired of going out into the world that we live in and being assaulted verbally. I’m tired of loving who I love and have my blackness challenged. I’m tired of explaining to others why my blackness counts. I hope that one day a true change will come but until then my work will focus on how I see the world and that includes the intersection of race, sexuality, and social media trends. 

This piece was created out of frustration and a call to action by white associates. I created this a month before the protest happened out of a feeling of grief, anger, and social media racial resistance."

"Last week. It was one of the ways that I tried to process what was going on. I wanted to write something that felt like an emotional release for me, but that was also able to penetrate the souls of people who don’t understand how racism impacts our country. It’s for people who don’t understand the BLM movement. I want to build a bridge between my experience and there’s. There’s so much division and it’s consistently getting worse. I’m just trying to find ways to not go crazy and maybe do some healing along the way."
