God is doing a new thing! This year's theme for the Diocese of Atlanta's annual gathering is "I'm about to do a new thing". In Isaiah, he writes about God "I am about to do a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert." The "I" refers to God because God is always doing new things. In this instance, not us, but God.
