Every movie needs ADR sessions in order to get the dialogue to sound clean. In the past, this was very expensive and laborious. Now, as a filmmaker, you can do ADR simply, cheaply and quickly. This tutorial explains how utilizing Adobe's Creative Cloud suite, Sennheiser e835 mics, an M-audio air 192 | 6 audio interface device and a pair of headphones. Oh, and of course a computer. But that's it. Really. Check it out if you don't believe me and feel free to ask me any questions or offer some of your thoughts. Simon Sinek is an author and motivational speaker who dares to imagine a world in which the vast majority of us wake up inspired, feel safe at work and return home fulfilled at the end of the day. And to realize this vision, he has simple ideas that may seem radical to some, but really shouldn't. What's interesting about his notions is that you extract them from a business context and apply it towards building a social media following—specifically his thoughts on changing company culture via exclusivity. That might crazy but it's really not so take a listen! Feel free to ask me any questions or offer some of your thoughts. We put a big emphasis on knowledge as a culture. Knowledge is good except is inactive. Wisdom is doing what you know and far too often we become stagnant given our pursuit of information. Gary Vee says we love consuming information but not doing the thing it teaches us. Jim Kwik says knowledge is potential power. Others agree as well. So if that's the case, how do we become better at putting all this knowledge into actual use? Or better yet, how do we know we're not over studying unnecessarily? That's where the idea of just in time knowledge comes in. See, too many of as are brain hoarders. We love just in case knowledge. Time to switch it up. So take a listen and become more productive! For many of us, we dream of something and once we get it, we move the goal post of success. We think to ourselves "what's next?". It consumes us. Instead of doing that, keep going. Keep doing what you already are. Spend the mental energy making what you're already doing better. Because otherwise you're never present and you'll never enjoy anything. Please take a listen if this resonates with you and feel free to ask me any questions or offer some of your thoughts. Most people aren't as productive at work because they fail to create a proper schedule. In order to utilize your time best, you have to categorize the tasks you do between manager tasks vs maker tasks. While we may predominantly be one over the other, we still cross over into the other now and then. The more aware you are and can have a calendar that reflects your individual needs, the better off you'll be. Take a listen for all the details! Sturgeon's revelation (as expounded by Theodore Sturgeon), referred to as Sturgeon's law, is an adage cited as "ninety percent of everything is crap." This is useful to know both as a consumer and as a content creator because once you do, you can be mindful. The quality of the things you watch/read/etc can be greater as can the things you produce. Check out this lesson to learn the full details. And please let me know your thoughts, whether in the comment section or hit me up on social media @PhilSvitek. I’d love to hear from you!
I find that whenever we work hard and we find ourselves with a day off, we want to escape. However this brings about more stress in the end. In this lesson, I go over a concept James Cameron talks about in terms of his days off. Take a listen! Feel free to ask me any questions or offer some of your thoughts. Sometimes everything happens at once and that's been the case for me lately. Granted, it's all amazing things but it definitely is a lot. I go over some of those things as well as things I've been reflecting on: such as how companies are handling firings. I also update you on my film and how I used a technique I teach in order to enhance it. I got over limiting beliefs and how sometimes you have to stay the course. Plus I talk about negative visualization as a tool for overcoming worry. For more of my lessons/tips/etc subscribe/follow on social media @PhilSvitek.
Many programs, like Avid, Adobe, etc either are or are becoming subscription based. I look at this as neutral. But what happens when software programs are subscription based is they role out lots of updates. Many of the updates they're testing and aren't fully stable yet. I experienced that with Adobe recently. So my advice to you, especially when you're in the midst of a major project is to NOT upgrade. It'll only mess up your project and cause you headaches. Update only when you know the build is stable or you can afford to experiment. Feel free to ask me any questions or offer some of your thoughts. Tim Ferriss turned me onto the idea of professional feedback where you survey bosses, peers, subordinates, clients, etc about yourself. This way you get a 360 view of you as a professional so you can grow. It might be tough to hear some of the things people may offer, but we all need other people's input in order to recognize our blindspots. Let me know if you have any questions of if you've done it, please share your experience.
