Life today moves at a relentless pace—schedules overflow, phones buzz with constant notifications, and even the good work we do at home, in our communities, or in church can leave us feeling exhausted. In your nightly prayer and devotional, Greg Grandchamp reflects on the fact that it’s easy to believe stillness is impossible, but God gently invites us to pause: “Be still, and know that I am God.”
Stillness isn’t about doing nothing. It’s about deliberately creating space to step away from the noise and open your heart to God’s presence. When we make room for quiet moments, we allow Him to restore our souls and remind us of His peace.
Jesus modeled this perfectly. Surrounded by crowds, demands, and pressure, He often withdrew to be alone with the Father. His ministry flowed out of those moments of stillness and prayer. The same can be true for us. As we prioritize intentional time with God, we discover renewed strength, quiet confidence, and a deeper trust in His plans.
Stillness doesn’t mean life will suddenly become calm—but it means our hearts can be calm in the middle of chaos. Over time, this discipline of quiet will bring serenity that extends beyond prayer time and into daily life.
Tonight’s Scripture: Psalm 46:10
“Be still, and know that I am God;…”
🙏 Your Nightly Prayer
Father in heaven,
Thank You for Your presence and Your peace. In a noisy, overwhelming world, remind me that true stillness is found in You. Quiet my anxious thoughts, calm my heart, and help me to rest in Your love. Lead me beside still waters and restore my soul. Tonight, I surrender the chaos of my mind to Your care and trust that You are God.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
🧘 Three Things to Meditate Upon
It’s okay to simply sit quietly before God without words—He delights in your presence as much as you delight in His.
When you don’t know how to pray, remember Romans 8:26: “The Spirit Himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.”
When your day grows hectic, pause, take a deep breath, and recall the peace you experienced in your “still” moments with God.
