We all want significance and meaning.

How do we know when we might be struggling to find it?

What does it look like to have internal significance and meaning versus externally?

Why does it matter?

How does your attachment style relate?

How do we teach our kids about feelings? How do we teach them to FEEL their feelings? What about handling the craziness (read: stressors) of life?

…we don’t rescue them.

Perhaps one of the reasons we fail to be present and parent from a place of mindfulness is due to our own internal clutter. We’ve got so much going on and don’t take care of the adult stuff (read: our own personal stuff) that it makes it extremely difficult to find room for our little peoples stuff. Whether that is a busy schedule, work projects, relationship struggles or our own work regarding patterns and beliefs, it all affects us uniquely and ultimately blocks our ability to show up for others.

One of the greatest responsibilities we have as parents is to teach our kids about relationships, emotions, the way the world works. No big deal, right? Their first relationship they will have in this lifetime is with you and your partner. Their first attachment wound or disruption is going to be with you. What are they learning? Is it safe to talk about hard things? Do they just need to suck it up and move along? When they cry do they get told to go to their room?

As parents, we are responsible for cultivating the relationship with our kids. It is not their responsibility nor is it their job to pacify us or to take care of us.
