  • Ep.20: You are Not a Superhero: Tips to Help Take off the Cape to Doing it Alone

This week, we are tackling the "strong Black Woman" narrative. The Black Superwoman Complex, also known as the Strong Black Women Narrative, is a complex that we are hearing about more and more as black women. It is a complex that we see as therapists of Black Women and Women of Color. The pressures on Black Women make it difficult to seek help. The expectation to be strong, to not complain, to figure it out, make it a barrier to seeking support from others. In this episode we want to create a safe space for you to take off your cape. To know that it is okay to have boundaries. It is okay to ask for help. It is okay to not always have all the answers. It is okay to rest. You know the drill sit back and come catch these vibes.

  • Ep.19: Protect Your Energy, Protect Your Peace

This week, we are talking about why it is important to protect your peace and how to do it. Protecting your peace means being able to care for your physical, mental, and emotional self. In this episode we want you to know that protecting your peace is a journey that includes a lot of self awareness, making decisions and setting boundaries that are in your best interest above all else. Protecting your peace is not something that happens overnight, in fact it is a journey and a process of removing all of the things, people and places that no longer serve you, making changes, and developing skills to make yourself more at ease in your life. This is ultimately that “soft life” that we hear so much about. We will share 9 steps to inner peace for Black Women that we draw on from the book, "Black Women’s Mental Health: Balancing Strength and Vulnerability." This is going to be a good one, so sit back and enjoy.

  • Ep.14: Self-Sabotage: Why We Get in Our Own Way

This week, we are diving into understanding how we get in our own way. Self-Sabotage happens when your actions and thoughts hold you back from accomplishing what you want, and that can be personally and professionally. Sometimes those behaviors and patterns show up subconsciously causing us to question what is really going on, but we are here to help. We want to acknowledge the self-sabotaging behaviors and realize that while they may provide a temporary solution, they affect us long term in our goals and productivity. This results in feelings of shame, disappointment, negative thinking, and in some cases symptoms of anxiety and depression. So if you have ever sabotaged a relationship because you feared what may happen if it worked out, or started a fitness routine and never stuck with it or maybe you keep starting and stopping those business ideas, well this is the episode for you. You know the drill come and vibe with us!

  • Ep.13: Let’s Get Vulnerable: The Key to Connectivity

This week, we will discuss what vulnerability is and the benefits of being open in connections with others. Let’s be real it can feel awkward to get vulnerable with people. We fear opening up fully out of being hurt, judged, or rejected.  However, vulnerability is consciously choosing to share emotions or desires with others regardless of how they may see you or react.  While vulnerability is difficult for a lot of us, it is key to establishing healthy relationships. Some come in and let’s get raw with us.

  • Ep. 12: The Audacity of Saying No: All Things Boundaries

This week, we are discussing the importance of boundaries. So many people struggle boundaries because they see it as a negative thing, but in fact the boundaries are there to protect you and keep your relationship healthy. Think of boundaries as an imaginary line that protects your peace and wellbeing in connections with others, kind of like the borders to your life. They are limits that you set to create a healthy sense or personal space in relationships. On today’s episode we explore ways to define your boundaries and maintain them. So sit back and relax and come catch these vibes.
