The United States ​has rescued an airman whose F-15 jet was downed ​in ‌Iran, according to multiple reports.

The ​airman is the second member ⁠of a ‌two-person crew of ‌an F-15 that Iran allegedly shot down.

President Donald Trump has posted on social media that the pilot has been injured, but is safe and sound.

He also labelled the rescue one of the most daring rescue operations in history.

The first member had already been rescued.

The sisters of police officer, Neal Thompson — who was killed by Dezi Freeman — are preparing to sue Victoria police over his death.

The legal action relates to specialist forces not being deployed to execute a search warrant at freeman's Porepunkah property.. Last august.

Tasmanian police say officers have shot a man after a confrontation in Hobart's northern suburbs.

Following a confrontation, police fired, with the man shot in the chest, police say.

The man is in a serious but stable condition.

A Professional Standards Investigation is under way.

Iran is dismissing US President Donald Trump's threat to attack the country's energy infrastructure as he reissued an ultimatum to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
