Sussan Ley has lost the Liberal party leadership, just nine months into the job.

Veteran New South Wales Liberal MP Sussan Ley's announced she's leaving parliament after being deposed as leader of the opposition by Angus Taylor.

She only secured 17 votes compared to Angus Taylor's 34 in a leadership vote this morning, that came at a time of dire polling for the Coalition.

She says she'll spend the next few weeks speaking with voters in her electorate before handing in her resignation which will trigger a by-election in the regional seat of Farrer.

US president Donald Trump's revoked a scientific finding that's been the central basis for American action to fight climate change.

The Obama-era finding determined that carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases threatened public health and welfare.

Donald Trump's previously described climate change as a con job and he withdrew the US from the Paris agreement.

Former president Barack Obama blasted the decision saying without the legal finding Americans will be less able to fight climate change, all so the fossil fuel industry can make even more money.

The federal government's announced $87 million over four years to support survivors of the stolen generations.

The funding will go towards services such as family tracing and reunification, health, and access to redress.

More than a hundred survivors are also gathering at federal parliament house this morning to mark the 18th anniversary of the national apology to the Stolen Generations made by former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd.
