Peter Brandl was born in the former East Germany and migrated, at great risk, to West German with his mother when he was a young teen. At 14, he became passionate about hand gliding and considered becoming a Pilot. He had to shelve that dream when a physician told him that his eyesight would preclude him from flying aircraft. He realized in his 30s that the physician was wrong and he became a pilot by the age of 40. In the interim he became an entrepreneur while still in university and developed an expertise in corporate training, including public speaking, negotiating and educational development. Once he became a pilot, he flew commercially for a few years, but soon realized that it wasn't for him. He opted to become a flight instructor and returned to being a trainer and motivating people in public speaking, drawing significantly from his experiences in the cockpit. He has also written three books. Peter co-hosted a 24-hour event with his wife Katja and 70 speakers to address the global pandemic called We Will Thrive. He splits his time between Berlin and Los Angeles.
