ACOFAE: A Collection of Fandoms and Exploration.

ACOFAEPodcast Presents: Spark of the Everflame by Penn Cole: "Denial with a capital D."

The wonderful thing about fantasy is that it's an escape. Sometimes an escape from reality is so needed that Laura Marie and Jessica Marie change up the recording schedule to accommodate Spark of the Everflame. Diem is and isn't like other girls and her world is one of division, gods, and magic. When the old king dies, Diem is thrust into a world of rebels and violence that has her questioning her loyalties to herself, her best friend/lover, and her family. Good stuff. Oh and there's a handsome prince of course. Jessica Marie is swooning and Laura Marie is gushing in book 1 of the Kindred’s Curse Saga.

TW / CW: sexual harassment

Spoilers: Spark of the Everflame by Penn Cole

Mentions: Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas, Beauty and the Beast

ACOFAE Podcast Presents: The Wizard's Brew: "January is weird, let's make it weirder."

It's 2025 and things that we are doing this year is finding joy wherever it may take us. Be it different genres, subgenres, or formats...altogether 2025 is the year ACOFAE leaves no stone unturned in the search for joy. So that should explain why Laura Marie and Jessica Marie find themselves in a crime procedural. No really, CRIME! Think 1920's crime noir with gnomes. And werewolves. Maybe some shapeshifters. Throw in a little magic and add a magical institute with fae objects and you've got a story; add in murder and you've got The Wizard's Brew. Potion making is the name of the game for a poor chap who just wants to do right by his wife, until MURDER. Enter in our detective, his pal, and we're off following the clues and going where the case takes no matter what. Oh and our detective is a man.

What's a man doing here?!

ACOFAE Podcast Presents: Catching Fire: "Eyes bright, chins up, smiles ON."

Ending the year with some "welcome to the revolution" vibes, Laura Marie and Jessica Marie are rewatching Catching Fire (movie two) in the The Hunger Games series (books by Suzanne Collins.) Nothing says the "end of the holidays" like a slog through the country to visit people that don't really like you, all to be roped back into the same thing you said you'd never do again. We laugh so we don't cry. Katniss and Peeta are traveling here and there and eventually back to The Capital for murderous shenanigans that include getting back in the arena again because Snow said so. Shattering the dome of expectation (ha), Katniss finds herself as the figurehead of a revolution that may or may not be more far along than she knows.

Just die.

ACOFAE Podcast Presents: Pop Culture Poetry 002: The Tortured Poets Department.

ACOFAE continues the journey through Pop Culture Poetry with Taylor Swift's The Tortured Poets Department. Laura Marie and Jessica Marie are looking at lyrics, reminiscing about concerts, and pointing out songs and little parts of songs that ended up meaning the world to them, some surprising and some not. Knowing that not everyone is a Taylor fan, exploring her work through the lyrics allowed ACOFAE to reflect on and feel the big feelings in a new and different way. ACOFAE isn't like other TS fans, they're different: faves (not counting TTPD) include Reputation, Midnights, and 1989. So different. So unique.

It's ok to be a little basic.
