In this episode we talk to Jennifer and Niall O’Callaghan about their life journey. They started out like any married couple in the beginning, planning to have kids and follow the typical path of life, but found that having children was proving more difficult than they thought, so after many years of trying they realized they needed to move on to adoption in order to have children. Going through the process of adoption has a large number of steps and it takes many years to finally be approved. Jen and Niall tell us how long this process took for them, and then what it was like to get approval from the adoption agency and the emotional rollercoaster it was to receive their child.

“You don’t really get newborns now because of the Hague Agreement. Because of that it’s allowing their own family to see if someone will come for them first, or somebody maybe from their country as well before they go outside of the country. So that’s kind of now why the children are older for adoption. So you won’t really get babies anymore. One and a half would probably be the youngest.” 25:26
