Welcome to AdventuRetired! Today our guest, Elizabeth Golden from Colorado, is a superstar!  Why? After 8 spine surgeries this hiker accomplished a list item from her bucket that many can only dream about! She hiked the Camino de Santiago! Elizabeth's retirement adventure just proves to all of us that we can reach for the stars and accomplish a major goal!  Elizabeth tells us that her inspiration for the Camino de Santiago was " the ability to walk when there had been many weeks where she couldn't walk a all."  Good job Elizabeth!  Good job!

In this episode we talk to retired nurse, Candy Bisenius, about her beautiful raised gardens. After our conversation, all I could think about is "come on spring, get here already!"  Candy and her husband, Rick, have the most amazing raised bed gardens I have ever seen and  they have embraced this hobby to it's fullest. The raised bed way of gardening not only saves the back, but it also limits the weeding for these active retirees!  And the cherry (tomato) on the top is  the most amazing, delicious garden produce just waiting for you to enjoy!

Today we have the privilege of talking to Maryann Phillips, a retired mental health worker, who loves long distance biking!  Maryann has biked across the United States multiple times on various routes.  She started riding her bike at the tender age of 14 and is still loving her two and now three wheeled rides.  After listening to this episode we bet you will be ready to dust off the bike in your garage and hit the road!

This episode  highlights the wonderful  retirement of Donny and Victoria Chamberland who retired in the beautiful Dominican Republic.  Donny retired from the United States Air Force after 22 years (Thank you!) and they decided to retire early to Victoria's home country while watching their American dollars go further.  They love the climate, people and now their retirement adventures!  If you are like me, the Dominican Republic is now on your bucket list!

We are excited to introduce Deb and Tim Graf to you! This great retired couple have a wonderful retirement journey living and traveling abroad.  Not afraid of a challenge or new journey they sold all their belongings, packed their bags. and now live a wonderful life traveling around the world!

We have all experienced how the Covid-19 virus has affected our families, businesses, schools, and retirement travel plans for the past two years, so Curt and I decided to get our "shots" and start living our best retired life and start traveling as soon as we felt comfortable.  What better way to celebrate travel again then by starting a new tradition that we now are going to call "Happy Birthday to Us!"  Yes, we have decided from now on to spend our birthdays (I'm three days older, but ya know I look much younger than my handsome guy") somewhere new and fun!  It might be down the road a bit to a local BnB or somewhere far away!  At our age, every birthday is a blessing!  

This first birthday bash was to a city where both of us have wanted to visit for a long time!  Nashville, Tennessee, home of country music and more!  We know lots of friends who jump a plane and fly to Nashville every year or so and rave about the music and food and music!  What a perfect place to celebrate 60 years on this planet and 35 years together!

Today we talk to Dorothy and Roger Graff about their second home in Arizona.  These active retirees are living their best retired life and enjoying their little piece of Arizona to the fullest.  While many people retire to Arizona, these two found their second home in Green Valley!  Sounds like a great place to beat the cold mid-west winters!  Hope you join us!
