After the Hype

This week on the podcast we talk about one of DC's wildest experiments - Batman Ninja. Witness all of your favorite Gotham characters re-contextualized for Feudal Japan, and witness the sheer bonkers-ville that ensues. We recommend going into this experience as blind as a bat.

We're back from hiatus and boy have we got the movie to kick off our return. Given that there's a new godzilla movie on the horizon we thought it would be great to talk about the 2016 Shin Godzilla produced by Toho and Cine Bazar. And what a treat it is. Special thanks to Johnny Recher for joining us to talk about the super fun kaiju flick!

Howdy folks, Jonathan here with a little update. To give Bryan and Chewie a little more time off I extended the hiatus by a week and went into our back catalog to share one of my favorite episodes of the podcast: Why Don't You Play In Hell by Japanese filmmaker Sion Sono. On recommendation by Bryan and Chewie and for the podcast I gave this film a shot and it won me over completely with its black comedy and excessive violence. I hope you check it out!

For our last episode of the hiatus, we're going back to episode one hundred to talk about the best movie ever made. You're probably thinking of a specific movie in your head as we say this, so let's make sure we're all on the same page here. It's Terminator 2: Judgement Day. Glad we could sync up on that. Enjoy!

We're still in hiatus this week so we thought it would be interesting to go back to our episode on THE BABADOOK, one of the best horror films of the last decade. Chewie was here to help us dissect what makes this movie so dang great, as was friend of the show Hunter and newcomer Donnacha. It's worth noting that we had Donnacha call in over the internet, so his audio quality is a little low. Apologies in advance. It's the Babadook's fault.

BRYAN – Where the Wild Things Are

After a little bit of a heart-to-heart about blood heritage, the tiefling make their way down through the mountain and finally find themselves at the exit...or rather, the entrance to this horrible place. Escape is not so quick, however, as the gang finds themselves caught in a skirmish between an Aasimar scouting party and a bunch of gnolls. Roll for initiative!

SPECIAL NOTE: We now have our own feed on Google Play Podcasts and will be on Apple Podcasts soon. In the meantime you can listen here. We'll keep you up to date over on @thesedemondayz over on twitter. Thanks!

This week we're going back to an earlier episode for one of Bryan's favorite movies - Ex Machina. The gang is all here, with Sam making another guest appearance (before she became a regular on the show). It's a great discussion about an awesome, thought-provoking film, and if you missed it the first time now is your chance to hear what we had to say about it.If you haven't seen the film by now...what are you waiting for? Go. See. Now!

SHOWNOTES:

WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN DOING?

BRYAN - Straight out of Compton

The four tiefling, finally introduced, continue their journey through this altar of ill purpose, trying to piece together what happened and what brought them to this horrible place. What lies ahead for our adventurers? What secrets will they uncover? How far does this mystery go? And what’s this about blood? All that and more in the second chapter of this campaign.

SPECIAL NOTE: We’re on the After the Hype RSS feed until we get our own feed going through itunes and google play, so be patient as we get set up!
