After the Hype

Due to some timey-wimey scheduling conflicts and the convenient arrival of Valentine's day we're trying something a little different. It's a Couples Movie Night episode featuring OG hosts Bryan and Chewie, each sharing a movie with each other and then talking about it. Chewie's pick is Virtuosity, and Bryan's pick is Titan A.E. It's a shorter episode than you might be used to, but no less fun, and there's speculation on whether or not Jonathan is a cuddler.

This week on the podcast we decided to watch The Nun, and God help us for doing so. Special thanks to friend of the show Elliot Campos for coming to save us in our time of need and providing some levity to help us get through this awful mess of a movie.

This week on the podcast we're living the good life as we talk about Crazy Rich Asians, directed by Jon M. Chu and starring Constance Wu, Henry Golding, and the wonderful Michelle Yeoh. There's a lot to like in this lavish film, but it's not without its problems. Special guest Gabriel Figueroa helps us break down what worked, and what didn't.

This week on the podcast the gang has some Bad Times at the El Royale, by which we mean they had a good time because this movie was pretty great. Lot of fun visual imagery and a lot of interesting twists and turns, with a fantastic acting turn from Jeff Bridges. Justin Thiele joins us to talk about the stylish romp from Drew Goddard.

This week on the podcast we have a bit of a Predator problem. Namely, that the new Predator movie is called THE PREDATOR. You'd think after enough of these movies they would want to reduce the confusion, not add to it. Anyway, this movie is a bit of a mess so we brought in friend of the show Erik Steffens to help us figure out what worked and what didn't.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM ALL OF US AT AFTER THE HYPE! In the spirit of the holidays we thought it would be a hoot to give you a battle episode featuring those feel good Christmas movies you might see on ABC Family, Freeform, Hallmark, etc. We had blast pitting these movies against each other, and even brought in producer Brian Nolan to join in the holiday tussle.

If you want to follow along we watched The Mistle-Tones, 12 Dates of Christmas, Married by Christmas (The Engagement Clause), A Cinderella Christmas, and My Santa.

This week on the podcast we're taking on Anya Taylor-Joy, Olivia Cooke, and Anton Yelchin as we discuss Thoroughbreds. It's quite the exercise in style that is not without its flaws. Special thanks to friend of the show Traci Ennes for joining us to talk about this aggressively stylish film!

This week on the show we're joined by newcomers Kyle Anderson and Makaela Newsome to talk about Lynne Ramsey's latest and fairly divisive film You Were Never Really Here. It's a movie that actively rebels against its genre, which works for some of us and not so much for others. Overall, a fun and in-depth discussion on an interesting movie.
