  • Funding boost to support those with eating disorders
Eating disorders are estimated to affect somewhere between 100 and 200,000 New Zealanders. And it's an issue that seems to be getting worse rather than better. So a boost in funding from the Government is very welcome news to places like the Waikato Region Eating Disorders team. To discuss, Jesse is joined by Waikato's regional mental health and addictions lead Vicki Aitken.

  • Explainer: What exactly is the India Free Trade Agreement?
There has been a lot of talk about the free trade agreement between New Zealand and India this week. Winston Peters says it's an "utter unmitigated disaster of an agreement for New Zealand's future." However yesterday Chris Hipkins confirmed Labour will support deal but did express concern about the investment target that's been set - 33 billion dollars. The deal is set to be formally signed on April 27th in New Delhi, and the full text is expected to be made public the following day. We want to find out more about it, so BusinessDesk senior correspondent Dileepa Fonseka chats to Jesse.

  • How to parent when your children are split across homes
Parenting is complicated enough, but what happens when kids are moving between two households with completely different rules, routines and expectations? For many families that's a reality. According to data from the Ministry of Social development almost 1 in 5 New Zealand households have a child in a shared care arrangement So how do you stay consistent, support your child and navigate those differences? Parenting Place's Parent coach Kristin Ward is with Jesse.

  • A-Z of Aotearoa: S is for Silver Fern
A to Z of Aotearoa is our regular segment where we choose topics that represent an iconic person, place or thing. This week we've arrived at 'S', and our focus is the now internationally recognised symbol of New Zealand, the Silver Fern. Jesse chats to Leon Perrie, curator of botany at Te Papa and co-author of the 'Identification Guide to the Ferns and Lycophytes of Aotearoa New Zealand' and designer Ben Clark (Ben is the son of Dave Clark, the designer of the first official All Blacks logo).

  • From spa pool to museum: the NZ meteorite discovery
A meteorite about the size of your fist goes on display today at the Tuhura Otago Museum. The rock - which is well over 100 years old - is one of just 10 discovered in Aotearoa New Zealand, and the first fresh discovery in over 20 years. Tuhura Museum Natural Sciences curator Kane Fleury joins Jesse.

  • WWII: The Kiwis in the world's first special forces unit
The soldiers in the Long Range Desert Group fighting in World War II, rapidly got a reputation as and I quote "arguably the most dashing and successful irregular formation on either side in the entire war." The LRDG's role was reconnaissance and road-mapping, but they also made a name for themselves shooting up air bases, disrupting German supply lines and effectively becoming the world's first special forces unit. And the bulk of the soldiers in this unit were New Zealanders. A new podcast called Desert Pirates is coming out next week for ANZAC Day that celebrates these men. Here to tell us all about it is Noelle McCarthy from Bird of Paradise Productions.
