This week on the Agegroup Podcast, I’m joined by Stuart Hackman, who has spent the last decade pushing himself in endurance sport and building an impressive age-group racing career.
Stuart has just completed his 50th competitive multi-sport race at Ironman Austria — a pretty incredible milestone in itself.
Over the years, he’s taken on more than 120 events, including two London Marathons, three RideLondon events and the Serpentine Swim, which helped him complete his London Classic.
But it’s his journey representing GB at age-group level that makes this story particularly interesting.
By the end of this year, Stuart will have competed in five GB events, from the Duathlon World Championships in Alavés in 2021 through to the upcoming Long Distance World Championships in Zofingen.
And there could be another big one on the horizon…
Stuart has also qualified for the T100 World Championship in Qatar, which could potentially take his GB appearances to six.
In this episode, we talk about the journey behind those races — the training, the commitment, the highs and lows, qualifying for GB, and what keeps you coming back for more after ten years in the sport.
Whether you're already racing as an age-grouper, thinking about taking that next step, or simply interested in what it takes to keep challenging yourself year after year, this is a great story of consistency, ambition and the pursuit of the next finish line.

And if you’re an age-grouper with a story of your own, get in touch — we’d love to hear it.
