  • Kundalini Yoga with Nicole Fagone
    It was an absolute having Nicole come on the show to share some of her expertise with us. Personally I've had a growing interest in yoga. I came across Nicole's practice in Manhattan Beach and have really enjoyed the way she teaches. From the music, to the movement, to her explanations and the way she holds the class.

    Because I wanted to share my experience with you and share Nicole's experience I invited her on the show to help you better understand the benefit of Kundalini yoga, what it is, how it can help and what you can do to improve your lifestyle naturally.
    Who is Nicole:
    Nicole, also known by her spiritual name, Sukhmani Kaur, has been practicing yoga for 18 years. Her passion for yoga grew exponentially when she began practicing Kundalini Yoga in 2007.  Being an accomplished singer and songwriter who studied at Berklee College of Music, Nicole was hooked by the rhythms and energy of the postures, music, and mantras used in classes.

    As she went deeper into the practice, she realized that Kundalini Yoga and Meditation is a transformational experience and sharing the teachings with others seemed like the natural thing to do. She and her husband formed the mantra band, Sukha and will be touring the US  in 2016.

    She studies Kundalini Yoga and Meditation at the advanced levels with renowned Kundalini Yoga teachers Gurmukh, Guru Singh, Tej,  Harijiwan, and Nirvair Singh and currently holds an E-RYT 200 with the Yoga Alliance, and is a member of IKTYA (International Kundalini Yoga Teachers Association).

    Show Notes:

    * How you can get started with meditation (simple mantra's for only 3-5mins!)
    * how Kundalini can help you reduce stress
    * nicole's favourite movement (the cat/cow pose)
    * the oldest form of yoga
    * more on the history of Kundilini
    * Book recommendations

    Once again it was an absolute pleasure having Nicole on the show, meeting her and experiencing some of her classes. Thank you so much taking the time to join us Nicole. If you're in the South Bay area I highly recommend you find Nicole and give her classes a try!

  • Dan Millman, Tosca Reno and Julie Daniluk
    In this show I put together some of my favourite interviews from Dan Millman, Tosca Reno and Julie Daniluk. I took out some key points from each guest that I thought could inspire, motivate or offer information to help you naturally improve your lifestyle.
    Dan Millman
    Dan Millman is my guest on this recording. Dan is one of my all time favourite authors and has come on the show a few times now. It's always a pleasuring having Dan on and learning from all the wisdom he has to share.

    In this snippet I ask Dan about aging because quite honestly he looks like he never gets older. At 69 years old I saw him do a handstand, at the age of 60 he talked about teaching himself how to ride a unicycle as well.

    Dan talks about what aging is to him, some of his aches and pains and what he thinks about fitness regarding wellness.
    Tosca Reno
    Tosca Reno is my next guest who is a New York Times Best Seller of her Eat Clean Series. She talks about her story regarding her addiction to sugar. She explains what it was like to be addicted to sugar and like an unhealthy lifestyle and how she now teaches others how to avoid sugar and kick those cravings.
    Julie Daniluk
    And my last guest on this show is Julie Daniluk, international best seller of Meals that Heal and an absolute pleasure to work with. She offers so much information in her full show it was difficult to pull out one short segment.

    Julie has an incredible story of how she actually healed herself that I wanted to share with you. As you'll find out in this snippet I think you too will be shocked and awed at how she was able to improve her heal and now teaches others how to do the same.

    Thank You

  • EMB #203: 10 Year Old Leah Holloway
    I could be more excited to have 10 year old Leah Holloway on Exploring Mind and Body as a guest interview for this episode. Leah has actually been listening to the show for years, if you could imagine! Leah is my youngest guest AND youngest listener.

    Words don't describe what it means to to know I'm reaching a younger generation with this show and with what I'm doing. Having long time listeners also means a lot so to have both in one is really something.

    Leah joins me in the studio with her mother and sister which is pretty cool in it's own rights to have most of the family talk about what it's like to listen to the show, raise healthy children and even work towards a healthy lifestyle.

    Show Notes:

    * making time to listen to the show
    * evening tea in show preparation
    * Leah's love of animals
    * Leah's concern for the environment
    * being a self learner
    * why listen at such a young age
    * raising children in a healthy manner
    * reducing electronics

  • CrossFit Games Experience
    In this show I talk about my Crossfit Games Experience. It was pretty cool staying in an area where they were holding part of the games. It wasn't actually planned and to be honest I didn't even know they were having them here until I saw them setting up for the games a day early.

    The truth is I'm not a CrossFit fanatic. I don't know tons about the sport, but it does interest me. I like the competition aspect, I like some of the movements and I like the community built around health and fitness.

    Seemingly by coincidence I had my first Crossfit experience at a local gym only a few days before the games. And being at the event, actually witnessing live and in person how in shape the athletes where, how difficult the workouts where and much excitement there is around the sport is really something to see.

    Show Notes:

    * what it's like to watch the CrossFit games
    * what it's like to see the athletes in person
    * workout out in a crossfit gym
    * changing your workouts
    * trying new things regarding fitness

  • Shark Attack my first encounter
    SHARK ATTACK my first experience. After reading the title it might surprise you to know I wasn't actually attacked by a shark. Instead this shark was being attacked, until it stopped breathing by human trash. What would have been a cool experience quite honestly left me sad and feeling a little sick.

    This beautiful, harmless shark was likely simply living (or trying to). Looking for food, a way to reproduce and came across human trash. Someone that likely had little care for the environment and their surroundings and as trivial it seems to so many, ended it's life simply because they cared so little to find the nearest trash can.
