A few weeks ago I posted on my Instagram (nemtheanga_primordial) some old ticket stubs from the mid 80s to the early 90s and sure enough the violence that surrounded those shows got mentioned in the comments, so I thought I'd revisit that, the reasons why it was happening, a stabbing at a punk gig in 1977 which cast a shadow over gigs in the State for years and I ask, was it just a British isles and Irish thing? if so, why? How it stopped, why gigs now are often just corporate and empty feeling and whisper it....those were the great days, the classic gigs and we wouldn't have it any other way....

In today's episode I discuss the idea that the album itself, one of the most defining things of modern culture is becoming a passion project, how deep cuts can just get lost completely and how the streaming format encourages endless singles. How this affects the vision of artists and how with touring becoming so expensive bands revert to greatest hits sets for festivals. Is making a full length right now actually detrimental to the grim business of driving numbers.

The files of my original take on the state of the worlds politics in 2024 were corrupted, perhaps the universe is telling me something. What's another year eh? getting back on the horse, back on the road again, not letting them grind ya down and all the usual cliches, this episode takes a look at the reaction to my top 20 of the year we have just done and dusted and observing the absolute deluge of music I forgot or would never have enough hours in the day to check out and asks the question is the underground, traditional metal just in a state of managed decline? a dusty old museum we have to remember to turn the lights on so the odd visitor can see through the gloom?
