Our guest this week has been putting up some great airhead content on YouTube via his channel, Airhead Barn. Damir Senic is originally from Croatia and picked up his love of 247 BMWs from his father. Damir is now a resident of Colorado and his latest project—a 1977 R75/7— is a wonderful video series that captures nearly every aspect of a complete teardown and rebuild as well as a postscript with a few add’tl repairs and modifications, after the break in miles. So off we go, for a visit with Damir Senic.

Elspeth Beard probably the most famous R60/6 still in circulation. If you are not familiar with her, she was the first British woman to circle the globe on a motorcycle but that’s only part of her story. She’s also an accomplished architect and still active in the motorcycle scene in the UK. Many of you have read her book, Lone Rider and if not, a good one to put on the to do list for sure. Elspeth still owns and rides the 60/6 among a few other bikes, so we’ll chat about that lessons from her trip and a number of airhead topics this week on the program.

Tom Cutter has a long and rich history with BMW, from his days at Butler and Smith to now operating his own repair shop in Yardley, PA. Also of note, Tom has recently taken on US distribution of Wedgetail Ignition Systems. No surprise, Tom has a lot to say and a lot of stories to share.

Is there a more famous photo of a /2 VW conversion than the one with a bearded, leather clad Duane Ausherman from the late 1960’s? With that, we are thrilled to have Duane with us this week. Of course, we’ll talk about the /2 VW conversion but there’s so much more. Duane was in on the vanguard of BMW dealers in the early 70’s when company started expanding and building markets in the west coast. Our guest this week is filmmaker, world traveler and media designer Daniel Rintz. The second of these is what we’ll focus on, as a good portion of his world traveling was done on both a first- AND second-generation airhead GS. Daniel’s two films Somewhere Else Tomorrow and Somewhere Else Together capture his travels, and journey of discovery. His website (link below)highlights both films and documents bike repairs during his travels, something we’ll dig into a bit later in our conversation. We’ll also answer the burning question, would he take an airhead GS around the world again?
