In the early morning hours of New Year’s Eve 1989, a drunk man by the name of Paul Cox smashed a window of the house where he once lived as a young child, walked upstairs to the bedroom of Dr. Lakshman Rao Chervu and his wife, Dr. Shanta Chervu, and sat calmly on the edge of their bed. When the doctors woke, he stabbed them multiple times, then slit both of their throats. Next, Paul Cox walked to his parents’ house and passed out after having an apparent blackout. The murders of the two doctors would go unsolved for 4 ½ years. This is the story of Alcoholics Anonymous Member Paul Cox.
