All Out with Jon Dean

'It will never be erased. But it doesn't mean it will always be remembered' - Matthew Mitcham on his historic Olympic gold win. Matthew is the first openly gay man to win gold in Beijing 2008, cementing his status as an LGBT+ legend in sporting history. In his most candid interview yet, Matthew sits down with us and tells us about his struggles with addiction and his deep longing to 'feel special'. You'd think an Olympic gold would satisfy any man's desire for validation, but unfortunately this wasn't the case. Following Matthew's win he fell in to another depression and began using substances again, in what he describes as the infamous 'Olympic come down'. With endorsement deals non existent and Matthew's achievements seemingly forgotten by popular media, comparisons with other LGBT+ athletes began to creep in. Matthew exclusively shares the full story with 'All Out with Jon Dean' in this intimate interview with a sporting trailblazer, who will go down in history as the very first 'Gay Going for Gold'.

Statistically LGBT+ people are more likely to be neurodivergent, and more adults than ever are getting ADHD and autism diagnoses. This week we sit down with the only TV presenter in the UK with tourette's Aidy Smith, and go [ALL IN] on neurodiversity and the impact an adult diagnosis can have of a person's life. We get personal and discuss our own struggles with depression and how this is often misdiagnosed, and whether medication can indeed transform your life.
