Looking for the familiar (i.e. safety) in your life can be a clue to what you are afraid of when it comes to what you want. When you attempt to commit to something but feel resistance, take notice; resistance is just another form of fear. Sometimes when we're called to commit, it sounds good at the time, but then later it feels downright horrible, as though you’d prefer lobbing off a body part to get out of it.
This is what it’s like when you fight against consistency and resistance takes over. It's an internal battle between participating and being on your own island, which may lead you to question all the things you say you want, but cannot commit to doing. Being afraid of loss can make us act in pretty inconsistent ways. It can make us say one thing (what we want) and do the opposite (what we don't want). Then we intellectualize our actions--why am I doing this? Unfortunately we never get to the answer because it’s buried under a deeper belief, and the only way to uncover it is by connecting to our feelings. Our mind can't get there on its own. Join me to learn how to take emotional action toward commitment and consistency so you can have what you want.
