  • 020 - All Things Period with Guest Vicky (Your Period Coach)

All Things Period with Guest Vicky (Your Period Coach)

Hosts Michele and Liana welcomed certified nutrition coach and fertility awareness educator Vicki Chehade (Your Period Coach) for an empowering conversation about menstrual cycle health, fertility planning, and reclaiming control of your body.

    In this episode, we cover:

    • Addressing Menstrual Health Education: We shared our awkward first-period stories and discussed the historical lack of education surrounding women's bodies, which inspired Vicki's mission to bridge this knowledge gap.
    • Life Beyond Hormonal Birth Control: Liana and Michele opened up about their transitions off hormonal birth control and copper IUDs, highlighting the shift toward natural cycle tracking and menstrual hygiene products like period underwear and organic tampons.
    • Understanding the Four Phases: Vicki broke down the menstrual cycle into four distinct phases—Menstruation, Follicular, Ovulation, and Luteal—explaining how tracking them allows you to adjust your rest, anticipate energy levels, and manage PMS symptoms effectively.
    • Nutritional Foundations for Hormones: We explored non-negotiable dietary habits for cycle health, including eating a balanced breakfast within an hour of waking, aiming for a minimum of 100 grams of protein daily, and embracing healthy fats rather than fearing them.
    • Shared Responsibility in Fertility: The group challenged the societal pressure that places contraception and fertility burdens solely on women, emphasizing that family planning and fertility testing must be a shared conversation between partners.
    • The Power of Self-Advocacy: Ultimately, living in the divine feminine and tracking your cycle is an act of resistance, empowering you to better advocate for yourself in the doctor's office.

  • 018 - All Things Love Me, Validate Me, and Tell Me I’m Pretty with Special Guest

All Things Love Me, Validate Me, and Tell Me I’m Pretty with Special Guest

Hosts Michele & Liana welcomed a special guest—Michele's husband—for an anticipated and heartfelt conversation about how to support a partner through mental health struggles, honoring differences in processing, and navigating the healing journey together.

    In this episode, we cover:

    • Processing Differences: Michele and her husband discussed the challenges of differing processing speeds—joking about "three to five business minutes versus three to five business days." They shared how shifting from a "problem-solver" to a "compromiser" transformed their communication.
    • Support Tactics and BoundariSupport Tactics and Boundaries: Drawing on his professional background in a care home, Michele's partner explained how to focus on soothing rather than panicking during acute stress moments (like dissociation or panic attacks). Michele and her husband also highlighted their strict intimacy rule: "anything but an emphatic yes is a no."
    • Compassion Fills the Empathy Gap: We explored how neurodivergent individuals experience emotions in wildly disproportionate amounts. Michele's partner noted that when true empathy isn't possible due to differing emotional intensities, deep compassion must fill that gap.
    • Accountability and Resentment: To prevent resentment, communication is vital. We discussed how relationships aren't simply a 50/50 transaction, but the partner experiencing a mental health episode must still hold themselves accountable for their actions.
    • Doing the Research: The episode closed with powerful advice for partners of those with conditions like bipolar, ADHD, or schizophrenia: do your research. Actively learning about a partner's diagnosis—and even their hyper-fixations or interests like Supernatural or One Piece—is the ultimate way to show care and be an effective advocate.
    • Silly Intrusive Thoughts: A look into their unique pressure-release valve of "letting the silly intrusive thoughts win sometimes" to relieve tension before extreme thoughts take over.
