Amiga, It’s Time to Leave Your Cultural Limitations Behind!

What’s the cultural limitation that first comes to mind, that has run in your family for generations? And how can you change the narrative around, so that your children don’t experience it?

As Latinas, we all know how things run in our families! I’m sure most of you can relate to the shame that surrounded topics like sex, going out after dark, or even divorce. The things we’ve experienced in our childhood – the fears, the shame – still linger in our adult lives and can most often prevent us from being the powerhouses and badass Latinas that we can be.

It’s time to put those limitations to rest! And we can only do that together, by sharing our experiences, and learning that we’re not alone in this.

That’s what this episode is all about! Today, I am joined by five amazing Amigas and we’re talking real talk! They openly share personal stories around the cultural limitations experienced in childhood, how those translated into their current life, and they offer powerful advice on how we can challenge those mindset blocks so that we and our children can start living a healthier and happier life.

You’re going to hear my dear friends that have different backgrounds but definitely one thing in common: they all are badass Latinas! Fanny Varela is an instructional coach and educator for 25 years. Laura Brusa-O’Connell – born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina, with a Master in Psychology, has worked for 16 years for different non-profit organizations, and for the past 5 years, she works with her husband in his construction business. Monique Olmo – a blogger and entrepreneur, 2nd generation Puerto Rican, the only female child in a household with five kids. Veronica Franco – Vice President of Sales for Provident Title. And last, but definitely not least, Alex Chavez, a kindergarten teacher who loves shaping the characters of young kids.

Tune in and listen to Episode 05 of Amiga, Handle Your Shit, and learn how to not stay stuck in the reality of shame, but thrive instead, with the powerful help that a strong community can offer.
