How did Anthony Fauci find the time in such a demanding job to devote what amounts to a public appearance every day of the year? Since January 1, 2020, Dr. Fauci participated in 354 television, radio, podcast, and online interviews, including lectures, panel discussions, speeches, and press conferences. This doesn’t include his book deal, forthcoming documentary, early pandemic press conferences with Donald Trump, and his current twice-per-week conferences with Joe Biden’s COVID-19 task force.

As the director of the National Institutes of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Fauci is the highest paid person in government, yet he seems to be spending more time on P.R. than on science. OpenTheBooks has taken calculated the number of appearances Fauci has made in the past year and a half and asks whether these appearances are in violation of federal law. More, what’s left for the hundreds of public affairs people to do at the NIH, FDA and CDC when Fauci does their job? Is this a massive misuse of taxpayer funds?
