"To awaken human emotion is the highest level of art." -Isadora Duncan
On today's episode Abby and Margot welcome their next guest, Luis Ludeña. He studied hospitality management as an undergrad, and received his MBA in finance from Tiffin University in Ohio. Luis worked at a tennis resort in upstate New York during his summers through college and later found his career as a tennis pro at John McEnroe's Sportime on Long Island. Luis shares that anxiety simply wasn't something taught or talked about in his home country, Venezuela, especially as a boy or man. He talks about his culture's expectations, i.e. "Men are tough, and don't show emotion," and how that influenced his avoidant behaviors in his youth. After moving to the U.S. at age 18, things began to change. He began to open up and break down what he calls the "emotional wall" and process and express emotions in a different way. Luis talks about the powerful ways he's learned to cope with anxiety, and other big feelings and offers the Warriors so many inspiring ideas about how to change your habits and find acceptance. Luis is passionate about teaching today's youth more than just tennis. He's focused on helping them to build self confidence, trust, and self awareness.
