Episode 53 - Gretchen, stop trying to make VR5 happen. It's not going to happen. Oh, wait it did. It did.
The long-running best practice for improv comedy is a technique known as 'Yes, And...'. We seem to have found our own road with Ian's school of thought, known the world over as 'Identify and Diminish'.
In this episode, Ian identifies an amazing facet to the existence of the Nissan Murano Cross Cabrolet, Dave identifies that he needs a new-ish car while Ian identifies the flaws in Dave's taffy-addled, diminished logic.
Once again music plays a role in our discussion and a round of FMKCars, so go give Frank Ocean's new LP a listen, and check out Ian's angular guitar recommendations.
The icing on the cake is an excellent listener-submitted FMKCars, where we learn about an engine that we didn't even know was a thing, along with figuring out a new way to warm tiny sausages.

Episode 52-And certainly NOT steampunk. Sheesh.
It's just a trail of misery this time around in the blanket fort.
Our most depressing garage update yet is followed by a look across the bleak landscape of available all-wheel drive wagons, and it's all cast in the most terrible of palls: Dave has only one single piece of candy during this episode. He chipped off a single bit of horehound and wallowed in the futility of human existence.
Episode 52 is brought to you by the Werner Herzog narrated audiobook of Love You Forever.

Episode 51-It puts the blanket in the fort or else it gets the taffy again
We've interviewed some interesting characters for this show, but none have been as game for anything as Nathan Adlen of The Fast Lane Car.
He hit us right up front by (rightly) making fun of the blanket fort, schooled us on the proper way to get started off-roading, and even dropped some knowledge about China. There were stops along the way to discuss all 50 states, Yoopers, and a VERY lively round of FMKcars.
Be sure to check out Nathan on YouTube at The Fast Lane Car, The Fast Lane Truck, and at AutoWerkz.tv.

Episode 50 - Not to say that there wasn't some light stabbing.
To commemorate the 50th episode of TeamClearCoat and the journey you've followed us on, we decided to get literal with it and go ... on a journey.
Yes, it's a very special road trip episode; there are highs (candy!), there are lows (boomers on bikes), and there are meat tubes (I've got nothing on this one). So, please, waste an inordinate amount of time with two idiots driving around Colorado in a 20-year-old Saab.
Thank you, sorry.

Episode 49-ish - So maybe we bit off more than we can chew.
As a TeamClearCoat listener, you're probably used to that fact that we can be a bit...how you say...over-ambitious at times? We have the best of intentions, but the worst free time, so we need a bit more of that last bit to finish up our 50th Episode Road Trip Extravaganzasode.
In exchange for your patience, dear listener, we offer this audible appetizer, an aural artichoke dip if you will, so that you can fill up on bread and diet sodas before the main course.

Episode 49-Concern. We has it.
What if the worst traits of a car company were actually a contagion that other cars could catch? We speculate on what happens when a car catches VW, Lotus, or Morgan. Tesla's problems don't seem chronic yet, but they're definitely a cause for concern.
Speaking of concern, we're concerned, as is El-P, that someone is going to get nerfed IRL wandering into the street while playing Pokemon Go.

Episode 48-Like chocolate and peanut butter but a bit more flammable
We really hone in on the obvious this episode: the Aston Martin V8 Vantage is a good car to drive, boats should have rockets on them, and a VW without a fuse puller is basically an expensive paper weight.
Geee, thanks, right? If you thought those were bad, you haven't heard Dave's IT jokes, which are just out of hand at this point.

Episode 47-Puffalumps. Yep.
When Stef Schrader isn't running Jalopnik's excellent motorsports blog Black Flag, she's racing her Porsche 944 in the 24 hours of LeMons and ChumpCar.
So naturally, we opened our conversation with her by talking about the obscure 80's stuffed animals called Puffalumps.
Eventually, we get around to talking about safety in amateur racing, why LeMons isn't scary and the dark side of Formula 1.

Episode 46-What is glazing agent anyway?
Dave and Ian are finally back in the TCC Blanket Fort after some time away. Dave talks about his car rental and how he managed to disappoint Ian from 650 miles away.
Ian talks about lacrosse players and practically ensures perma-wedgies from jocks for life.
This is also the first appearance of what is inevitability going to be a podcast mainstay, Dave's Top Gear Update.

Episode 45-Seriously, we didn't screw it up!
Derek Mead is the editor-in-chief of Motherboard - Vice's excellent tech blog - but he's also a massive car nerd.
He joins us in the blanket fort to prove it by talking about the future of car enthusiasm, selecting exactly which type of dystopia he prefers, and accidentally offending RX-7 owners everywhere.
Be sure to check out Motherboard for a smart, unique take on the tech world.
