  • Willow (1988)
If at first you don’t succeed, hope to God you gain a following on Home Video…

And so is the story of Willow, a delightful fantasy adventure from George Lucas and Ron Howard that would garner a cult following that would endure decades past the original film’s release and eventually get its own sequel TV series on Disney Plus. Surely a big budget show with CW-esque characters and dialogue will catch on as much, if not more, than the original - right?

    Right…?

Anyway, enough about that failure, let’s talk about the original box office disappointment: 1988’s Willow!

I’m your host, Dave, and joining me as we cover ourselves with magical horny dust are fellow cinephiles and Daikini’s Mike, Jackie and Nick “Immortan Hoof”.

Listen as we discuss the disturbing amount of (made up) racial slurs thrown around in this film; we make a drinking game for every time a character says “Dust of Broken Hearts”; and finally, we salute Ron Howard, the most Okay-ist Director in Hollywood.

That’ll do it for this episode. Now out of my way, peck! I’ve got a big sack filled with the Dust of Broken Hearts, and that feline at the other end of the bar is calling to my inner brownie.

  • Halloween (1978)
“Death has come to your little town, Sheriff…”

Just when you thought it was safe to take down your jack-o-lantern…Shocktober lives on! Because two horror fans (and the occasional special guest) refuse to let evil die tonight.

I’m your host, Dave, and joining me as we begin a year-long retrospective on everyone’s favorite Captain Kirk Mask-wearing serial killer, is fellow horror fan and former Smith’s Grove patient, Nick “Immortan” Hoof.

Topics of discussion in this episode include the apparent lack of spatial awareness with the youth of the 1970s; we breakdown ButterGate and Annie’s complete disregard for the safety of Lindsey; and finally we wonder if the murder of three teenagers could have been prevented if Dr. Loomis had merely looked down the other side of the street three hours earlier.

Topics of discussion in this episode include the dangers of riding in a school bus; we hit the Canceled! button on the bizarre inclusion of a racist cereal; and finally, Clu Gulager reminds us that good parenting is all about distrust, irrational thinking, and a good kick in the butt.

    8. Psycho II
Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the shower…

The Apocalypse Video Shocktober Spooktacular: Part II continues its bloody streak of terrifying madness with everyone’s favorite Mama’s boy, Norman Bates, in Psycho II.

I’m your host, Dave, and joining me as we curse Ronald Reagan for those budget cuts to the country’s mental health programs are fellow horror hounds and recently cleared of murder charges by reasons of insanity Mike, Jackie, Ryan, and Nick “Immortan Hoof”.

Topics of discussion in this episode include Dennis Franz battling Carl from Aqua Teen Hunger Force for title of World’s Filthiest Human; we wonder how Norman’s psychological recovery would have gone if he had had Sam Loomis as his psychiatrist; and finally, conversely, we wonder what Michael Myers’ psychological recovery would have looked like if he had had Robert Loggia as his psychiatrist and not a crazy man who says “Evil!” every five minutes.

I’m your host, Dave, and joining me are fellow horror hounds and people who always secure their load when traveling with a large collection of lumber, Mike, Jackie, Ryan, and Nick “Immortan Hoof”.

The Apocalypse Video Trek Cast has once again been dragged into the mad and the macabre of the Shocktober Spooktacular. I can only imagine what horrors await us in this season five episode. Nevertheless, I am confident that ship and crew will function well and take on whatever spooky obstacles may lay in our path with grace and dignity–Oh, God! What is that?! That little girl…she has red eyes…red - Devil eyes!!! God help us all!!!

I’m your Host and Captain, Dave, and joining me again are fellow Trekkies and non-imaginary friends Mike and Jackie.
