They took a break in the late 2000's but have reformed to create their newest release "the Revenge of the Fifth" You can pick it up here on iTunes.
In the Podcast we get caught up on how things are going in Stevens world as well as how the reformed "Belvedere" came to fruition. We also talk about being a dad and what it like to still be playing in a band.

  • Epi 80 Rude van Steenes of “ARSON”
Welcome to episode 80!! Rude van Steenes is a singer in the band "Arson". "Arson" started in the late 70's when Rude first met guitarist Marcel La Fleur by chance on the street. The band has been playing live in the Toronto punk scene in several different incarnations with a long break in the middle. Rude has been playing in bands since the early 70's. Starting out as a drummer, he eventually made it to the front as a lyricist and singer and never went back to the kit. After years of playing, rude got a job with the government and is almost ready to retire in a few years. He balances music, bills and life perfectly and has no regrets.
In the Podcast we talk about his early days and also about his major influences. We talk (of course) about music and trends. A wonderful chat and hopefully a good listen!!

  • Epi 79 Stephen Egerton of “ALL” & “Descendents”
Stephen Egerton is the guitar player in the bands "ALL" and "Descendents". Stephen got his start in music when he joined "Descendents" in the late 1980's and toured constantly for several years day in a day out. He recorded some great albums like "Batch" and "Type Thing" by "Big Drill Car" with fellow band mate Bill Stevenson. I met Stephen when he flew up to Toronto to record the first real recording I played on and literally taught me how to play bass in one recording session. He's recorded and played on tons of albums and it's an honour to know him and call him my friend.

  • Epi 77 Amanda Wilkinson of “Small Town Pistols”
Amanda Wilkinson was one third of the grammy nominated family band "the Wilkinsons". Amanda and "the Wilkinsons" hit stardom with their single "26 Cents", the song that allowed them the privilege of meeting The Eagles and other hero's of the nature. Amanda was only 16 when she became a house hold name in the country community but that hasn't changed her sense of home and the strength of family. After a bunch of singles and albums with "the Wilkinsons", Amanda went solo and had equally as much success with juno nominations and records sold world-wide. After a brief period living in Nashville, Amanda and her brother Tyler along with their dad Steve started writing again. Five years of cheap beer and heart ache gave way to Amanda and Tyler's debut album as "The Small Town Pistols". There first and second album are fan favourites and they will be on tour this summer playing several shows in Canada with yours truly pushing the faders and worrying about the bottom line.
In the podcast we talk about what it's like to grow up in the music industry with all it's quirks and egos. We also talk about what it's like to balance a personal and professional life. A nice conversation from a great gal!!

  • Epi 76 Kevin Hilliard
Hey it's two podcasters in two weeks. Coincidence? Yes totally!.  Kevin Hilliard is one of the people behind the successful live show and podcast "Pitch Talks". Pitch Talks is a show that breaks down the game of  baseball for both new fans and life time lovers alike. The live shows are candid conversations and the podcast is a more compact version of the live show. It's a great listen for anyone wanting to get the inside scoop and a different perspective.
Kevin also has been in several bands including "Small Sins", "National Anthem", and "Galore". He's also the lighting director for Canadian indie rockers "Sloan". As a self-proclaimed unqualified lighting person, it sheds light on how a band like Sloan works with Kevin because he's a solid guy and a cool hang. Kevin is also known as "the clapper" because of his band role in "Small Sins" (Noise Maker and Clapper).
In the podcast we talk allot about what it's like playing in bands, his love of baseball,my lack of knowledge of baseball and life in general. Thanks Kevin for the as per usual great talk!!

  • Epi 75 Pat Lackenbauer of Movin’ Air Podcast
Pat Lackenbauer is a fellow podcaster based in the Kitchener Waterloo area of Ontario. Like myself, Pat wanted to do a podcast that revolve around story telling and how personal experiences make us who we are today. Pat is an expert at extracting a clear, defined and well told story from whomever he's interviewing.
Pat started out early in life as an artist where he turned his talent into a career for a period in his life. He also has dabbled in concert promotion, running a record label and was a light technician for bands in the earlier parts of his life. He now manages and sound and music store called Sherwood Systems in Kitchener Waterloo. One of the larger stores in the region.
we talked about what it was like then for us making our lives work in art and music and what it's like in todays age of technology and digital clutter. We also talked about what it was like to start a podcast in the golden age of podcasting. A nice chat with my new friend. Thanks Pat!!

  • Epi 74 John Sutton
John Sutton is the ex bass player of Winnipeg folk rockers "the Weakerthans". John has also been in other bands like "All Systems Go" (with John Kastner) "Sandfly fever" and even my band "Four Square". He now plays in a few bands out of Toronto like "Arson", "rusty" and "Sids Kids". John was the first real friend I made in Winnipeg when I moved there in 1992.
After leaving Regina, John moved to Winnipeg and lived there until the success of "the Weakerthans" allowed him to move to Toronto. He currently works at the Air Canada Centre as a broadcast technician and plays in about 100 bands.
In the Podcast we talked about music and how early punk influences changed both of us with our sense of community and the idea of what success actually is. As one of my oldest and dearest friends, it was a pleasure having John on the podcast.

  • Epi 72 Darren “Mista D” Dumas
Darren Dumas aka Mista D is the lead singer in a Canadian band known as "the Salads". The Salads had some hype in the early 2000's with their hit "Get Loose". After several albums, tours and shows, the band is still together but not as busy as they were 10 years ago. All members of the band are still active in music and art to some capacity. Darren is presently back in his home town of Stratford Ontario working as a graphic designer and singer in his Bob Marley tribute act "Mob Barley & the Railers". Darren is the same positive guy I met way back then and it's inspiring to see his unwavering love of music and art. One in a million!! In the podcast, we talk about his band being in the industry when it was almost dead. We talk about life and the future of music.
