  • Epi 71 SNOW aka Darrin O’Brien
SNOW aka Darrin O'Brien is a singer and the artist that brought you the 90's reggae super hit "Informer". Snow's approach to music and fame is unlike anyone I've met before. He doesn't try to further his career by whoring himself to the highest bidder. He knows when and where to play and has no problem playing live anytime and anywhere. It's getting there that is the struggle. Snow doesn't have stage fright, he has a fear of failing on stage. So there was several times he has cancelled shows based on feeling rather than logistics. This of course adds to the mystery know as "SNOW".
In the Podcast we talked a bit about music, his time in jail, his fear of getting from the hotel to the stage as well as his new management and forthcoming album. We also drank some crazy cucumber water that tasted like hand lotion. It was great catching up with one of the largest stars to grace the podcast!!

Jim Bryson is a singer/ song writer that started his career in the early 90's playing and singing in the band "Punchbuggy". Punchbuggy was an Ottawa power pop outfit that toured throughout North America. He has just released a new album called "Somewhere we will Find Our Place", a collection of songs that are close to Jim. The album deals with several topics that people our age go through. Like being a dad, marriage and the politics of keeping it all together.
In the Podcast we talk a little about Jim's new album, the old days and his new furnace thermostat. It was nice to catch up with an old friend!!

  • Epi 69 Roger Scannura
Roger Scannura is a flamenco guitarist that currently teaches at York University. He's also a graphic designer and artist. After leaving Malta in the late 60's, Rogers world was expanded with things he would never see in the safety and comfort of a small island in the Mediterranean Sea. Originally schooled as an architect, Roger soon became infatuated with the art of flamenco guitar and worked his way to the being one of the greats of our time.
In the podcast, we talk about the post education system and the differences from 20 years ago. We also talk about how Roger got here, where he's been and where he's going. It's always great talking to people like Roger!!

  • Epi 67 Graeme Philliskirk
Graeme Philliskirk hails from Sunderland UK and was the bass player in the band "Leatherface". Leatherface had some success in the 90's and is a major influence to bands like "Hot Water Music". After a few reunions and tours, Leatherface called it quits. Graeme and guitar player Dickie Hammond started writing new songs. They joined forces with Hugo Mudie and other members of the Montreal based band "The Sainte Catherines". They recorded an album under the name "Medictation". After the death of Dickie Hammond in November of 2015, the future was uncertain for "Medictation". The surviving members decided to release the album as a tribute to Dickie and the songs he contributed to the project.
In the Podcast we talk about life in England, the new band and the fun & challenges of a cross-atlantic recording project.

  • Epi 66 Greig Nori
Greig Nori is the front man and guitarist for the 90's anthem rockers "Treble Charger". He's also known as the man that discovered "Sum 41", taking them to stardom in the early 2000's. Greig is known as a big idea kind of guy. After years and years of working in Toronto, he picked up and moved back to his home town of Sault Ste Marie. It's there that he is hatching maybe his biggest, best project ever. The idea is still in the early development stage but if successful, it will change how music is marketed and released. In the podcast we talk about the love of music and how it feels to return to it under a different light. To create for the sake of creation rather than creation while under contract and high expectations.

  • Epi 65 Brad Lacell
Brad Lacell is a singer/ song writer. He's also was the bass player in "The Inner City Surfers" as well as "Damn 13". Brad is originally from Sault Ste Marie but moved to Toronto in his late teens to be with people with the same intentions. To make music in the big city. After moving around between "the soo" and Toronto, Brad settled in the west end of Toronto with his band "the Inner City Surfers". That's around the time that I met Brad for the first time over the phone. I thought it was a crank call when he started to explain the bands music to me. After recording two and a half albums for "Inner City Surfers" I'm constantly amazing in the honesty that Brads music emits.
In the Podcast we talk of the early days of Brad and his love for music. We talk about friendship and how important it is for him. His sense of family is strong with his friends while not so strong with his actual family. An amazing guy!!

  • Epi 64 Robert Michael Higgins of “Dearly Beloved”
Robert Michael Higgins is the bass player/song writer for Dearly Beloved. Rob has been playing music in the Canadian scene for well over 20 years with bands such as Change of Heart, Doctor, and tons more. He is also related to Rock n' Roll royalty because he is the nephew of Geddy Lee, the bass player of Rush. Being related to such a high-profile guy never affected Rob as a person, he's super grounded and always ready to jump in the van to drive countless hours to play of show or do what needs to get done! The point is that Rob never exploits or uses the unique opportunity in a negative way.
On today's podcast we talk about being in a band, life on the road, and what it takes to be a successful and working musician in Canada.
They are currently in the studio recording a new album.
