Networking has long been the static plumbing that just made connectivity happen, but that’s changing rapidly to address the demands of modern enterprise applications. Interconnect has to happen at higher levels of abstraction and with greater levels of automation to get to the scale required. Fears of robots gone wild in the network should be shelved in favor of managed API’s and automation platforms. There are still a lot of moving parts, but the transformation of a lagging field is underway.
