  • Delegation and the Art of Receiving Time

Hey all you lone wold control freak types- I'm talking to you this episode.  You know how you always feel like you're drowning in work? Time to let go of the reins and start delegating.

Before you start hyperventilating, it's OK to let someone help you. All this and more is detailed in my book Time Builder, now available on my website. Here's my top takeaways to make it work:

    1. Delegation empowers someone else while helping to ease your load. Done right, it's a double blessing.
  • No one else will love your project the way you do- they may love it as much or more though. Your work is magnified when it has a ripple effect- and that ripple can't happen until you throw the pebble into the water.
  • Delegation is a skill. It requires building trust and clearly communicating what needs to be done when and why.
  • Ease your worries about work quality by providing feedback along the way along with lost of praise and constructive criticism.
  • Manage time spent by providing milestones and checkpoints so you can make sure neither too much or too little work is being done. Calibrate these deadlines to the skill set of your delegate, not based on how long it would take you to complete the task.
  • Get help if you need it- check out two of my entry level coaching sessions here that will help you get some perspective and clarity: http://architectingpodcast.com/index.php/coaching-programs-angela-mazzi/ DM me on Instagram with topics, questions or show ideas!

  • Stop Spuddling! Expand Your Capacity

Spuddle may just be my new favorite word. And when we're talking bandwidth, that tendency we have to make big deals out of the small stuff just so we can stay too busy to actually achieve anything is exactly what's siphoning off your capacity to handle what you really want to be doing.

Get smart about ways to expand your capacity:

    1. Be more discerning about what you choose to take on
  • Never run yourself at 100% on the regular- shoot for using about 70% of yoru bandwith at a time
  • Be a gear, not a hamster by building yourself a support system
  • Eliminate microdistractions that are siphoning off your time and energy

By it's very nature, creativity requires we journey into the unknown. Yet, by its very nature, our brain really likes repetition. In fact, there is a whole system that filters out sensory inputs, rejecting the vast majority of information our senses deliver to us. In this episode, learn how to give that editor some different instructions so that filter running around in the background is helping you get things done while you go about the rest of your day.

  • Say Yes to Life

Nose to the grindstone gets you a paycheck. But you are so much more than that. Today, you start saying yes to life, to the things you want to do not just the ones you have to do.

I'm so excited, we are on the eve of the launch of my second book. Time Builder is the book I didn't know I would write, but this topic called to me precisely because I see so many architects shutting down the possibility of living the life they love while doing impactful work because they don't think they have enough time. I share my own strategies for doing more without burning out:

    1. Choose priorities over balance
  • How to put your subconscious mind to work for you
  • Why exquisite self care is manadatory
  • Get out of anxiety and the perfectionism and procrastination that come along for the ride.
  • Ways to preserve your bandwidth
  • Start feeling comfortable and worthy of receiving help
  • Where do you need a little help? DM me on Instagram with topics, questions or show ideas!

  • No Easy Way Out: Seeking Your comfort Zone Won't Advance Your Career

Set it and forget it is not a catchphrase that should ever be applied to your career. Complacency and competence won't get you anywhere, unless putting your career in zombie mode just to earn a paycheck is your goal.

This episode puts a mirror to your soul to reveal why choosing the path of least resistance to avoid the stress of forging ahead just leads to stagnation.  Let's explore your growth edge and get you on it by

    1. Taking "no matter what actions" from a heart led place. When you have this urgency of purpose, you'll be surprised at the connections you can leverage and the opportunities you will unabashedly pitch.
  • Re-framing failure as learning and evolution. All wisdom comes from failure.
  • Focusing on how success will feel, not on specific outcomes so you can stay open to possibility and seize opportunities, even if they don't look like what you originally imagined.
