Benevolence is a good thing.  It means making the world a better place just because you can.  The past few years have reminded us that benevolence is the exception, not the rule.  But it does exist.  Ari's book catalogues a few such examples.  Even something as simple as being friendly can improve the world to a small degree, and it takes virtually no effort.  Be benevolent.  Be one of the few.  You may even make it into a book one day.
