On September 16, 1994, there was a UFO sighting on the outskirts of Ruwa, Zimbabwe. Sixty-two Ariel School students aged between six and twelve said they saw one or more silver craft descend from the sky and land in a field nearby from their school.Some of the children claimed that one or more creatures dressed all in black approached and telepathically communicated a message with an environmental theme to them, scaring them and making them cry.

Fortean writer Jerome Clark called the incident “the most notable close encounter of the third kind of the 1990s.”Some articles described the incident as a case of mass hysteria.Not all children at school that day claimed to have seen anything. Several of those who did so maintained that their account of the incident is true.
