  • Pete Summit From Crashing Wayward The New Album Listen And Single Closer
The unrestrained passion which fuels the latest Crashing Wayward single “Closer” immediately demonstrates what this new modern rock band is all about. A hit waiting to happen on an album full of potential singles, “Closer” is now available on all digital/streaming formats, accompanied by a powerful new music video directed by Mason Wright. “Closer” is one of many highlights on the band’s debut album LISTEN! due out June 9 on the RFK Media label and distributed by Amplified Distribution. The 11-track album was produced by heavy hitter Mike Gillies, whose credits include a long tenure with Metallica as well as studio work with Mötley Crüe and The Cult. Lyrically poetic and musically illuminating, Crashing Wayward paints a landscape that stretches beyond alternative hard rock and explores the diverse influences of each of its band members. They came together in the Spring of 2020, just when the world seemed to come to a halt. In that stillness, the band grew restless, feverishly writing emotionally fueled songs of hope, inclusion, and escape. The music on LISTEN! represents a cathartic release raw in approach yet refined in tone.

  • Thunder Rosa And Powerhouse Will Hobbs From AEW's Collision On TNT
TNT launches a second night of professional wrestling with a new tentpole series, “AEW: Collision” on Saturday, June 17. This live, two-hour, in-ring show will air every Saturday night from 8-10 p.m. ET and feature more wrestlers, more stories and more action to super-serve fans. “AEW: Collision” will feature headliners including CM Punk, Thunder Rosa, Powerhouse Hobbs, Samoa Joe, and Andrade El Idolo.

In only four years following the launch of “AEW: Dynamite,” AEW’s footprint has more than doubled across TNT and TBS. Along with “AEW: Dynamite,” Friday night’s “AEW: Rampage,” the recent follow-doc “AEW: All Access,” and now “AEW: Collision,” TNT and TBS deliver the best matches and most entertaining moments in professional wrestling today. AEW has reached 23M total viewers so far this year across all of its shows on TBS and TNT.

Thunder Rosa, whose real name Melissa Cervantes, is a Mexican professional wrestler and mixed martial artist. She is known for her high-stakes and hard wrestling style (a mix of American style, Japanese strong style, and Mexican wrestling). She has won several championships, including the AEW Women's World Championship, the NWA Women's World Championship, and the Shine Tag Team Championship. Rosa also owns the Mission Pro Wrestling promotion and has been a strong supporter of women's wrestling. She is the first AEW and NWA world champion born in Mexico, making her the first Mexican world champion in U.S. wrestling. Thunder Rosa has received major accolades, such as Pro Wrestling Illustrated's "Fight of the Year 2021" and is currently ranked #3 on the list of best female wrestlers in the world in Pro Wrestling Illustrated Women's 150.

Coming from a rough upbringing, Will Hobbs found his passion for wrestling nurtured when he moved in with his grandparents, who were avid fans. Regaled with tales of the legendary Cow Palace, a venue Hobbs himself would later attend, Hobbs’ journey as a young aspiring pro wrestler blossomed. After attending the WCW Superbrawl VIII in 1998, where he had a memorable encounter with Booker T, Hobbs knew his destiny. This led him to the All Pro Wrestling Boot Camp in 2009, where he officially began training for his career.

Giving credit to his strong work ethic, determination and perseverance, Hobbs took full advantage of an opportunity borne out of the rarest of circumstances. He made his AEW DARK debut on July 7th. Hobbs returned a week later, receiving more of a showcase in six-man tag action. After appearing on six of the first seven possible DARK cards since his debut, Will Hobbs went on to make his AEW Dynamite debut in mid-August against Darby Allin. This just continued his rapid rise from unknown to AEW prospect. After a few months, Hobbs turned heel and joined Team Taz. Later, they renamed him Powerhouse Hobbs. His 2023 record is 17-4 as he looks to headline TNT’s newest night of wrestling. East Palo Alto recently names March 24 at Powerhouse Hobbs Day!

  • Norman Solomon Releases The Book War Made Invisible
What we see on television, as well as what we read in newspapers, watch on YouTube, and hear on the radio, routinely glorifies the military, obscures the real costs of war, and dehumanizes people the U.S. government has deemed dangerous or expendable. In War Made Invisible: How America Hides the Human Toll of Its Military Machine (Hardcover; $27.99; 978-1-62097-791-0; On sale 6/13/2023) acclaimed journalist and political analyst Norman Solomon takes American media and political leaders to task for selectively concealing tragic consequences of war. From Iraq through Afghanistan and Syria and on to little-known deployments in a range of countries around the globe, the United States has been at perpetual war for at least the past two decades. Yet many of these forays remain still off the radar of average Americans. Additionally, the increased use of high technology, airpower, and remote drones has put distance between soldiers and the civilians who die. And back at home, the cloak of invisibility masks massive Pentagon budgets that receive bipartisan approval even as policymakers struggle to fund the domestic agenda.

  • Woniya Dawn Thibeault Releaes The Book Never Alone
Woniya Dawn Thibeault never felt at home in the modern world. An awkward only child and once-upon-a-time vegan, she was always drawn to the natural world and wild places. By age 19, she was throwing herself into studying not only nature but also the skills our ancestors used to thrive there. Before long, she was living off-grid, foraging for food, picking up road-killed deer, and wearing their skins for clothing. Even so, she was shocked when The HISTORY Channel's hit survival TV show Alone came calling and invited her to be a participant on Season 6. In her debut memoir NEVER ALONE: A Solo Arctic Survival Journey (Timeless Ways, June 13, 2023, ISBN: 978-1-960303-00-4; Hardcover), Woniya shares how months of starving by herself in the Arctic wilderness brought more healing than suffering, and led to a deep sense of belonging and peace. Her story affirms the incredible strength of the human spirit and shows us that strength comes in many surprising forms. NEVER ALONE's message is one of inspiration and learning to trust in ourselves and the land around us-embracing the wild and being wholly and beautifully human, flaws and all. Also, a portion of the proceeds from the sale of this book will be donated to the native people on whose homeland the adventure took place. "I wanted to do Alone for the experience. I also wanted to do it well, even win it," Woniya writes. "It felt important to me to represent a whole different approach to wilderness survival, because the images we usually see are of big strong men, most often with military training, with knives the size of their forearms strapped to their thighs and a pack full of fancy tactical gadgets. I wanted to show the world that living in the wild doesn't have to be about battling nature. For me, it's all about knowing that I'm part of nature and am humbly willing to learn about and participate in it."

  • Black Sabbath's Geezer Butler Releases The Book Into The Void
Hailed by Rolling Stone as "the Beatles of heavy metal" and ranked by MTV as the "Greatest Metal Band of All Time," Black Sabbath not only dominated the genre-they helped create it. Founded in 1969, the band's distinctive heavy riffs, tuned down guitars, and apocalyptic lyrics were a stark contrast to the era's popular feel-good pop, upbeat Motown, and earnest folk music. Their ominous new sound struck a chord. To date, Black Sabbath has sold more than 70 million records worldwide. In INTO THE VOID: From Birth to Black Sabbath-And Beyond (William Morrow: On sale: June 6, 2023), Geezer Butler tells his side of the story-and the story of his life before and after the band's rise to fame and notoriety. With honesty, Butler writes of his childhood in Luftwaffe-battered Birmingham, England, as one of seven in a working-class Irish Catholic family, and his disillusionment with organized religion and class systems in his late teens, which would influence the lyrics and artistic themes that made Black Sabbath a sensation. From his awakening to the power of music-and his bold decision to change his career path from accountant to bassist-Butler takes readers behind the scenes of Black Sabbath's roots, rise, and struggles.
