Arroe Collins Like It's Live

In an unprecedented creative milestone, BAG Production Records announces the simultaneous release of eight new albums by acclaimed clarinetist, composer, and improvisational master Ben Goldberg on August 8."For me the number is basically eight," Goldberg notes, "on account of having eight letters in my first name and eight in my last name, and on account of having been born on 8/8."Recorded over the last several years, the "8 x 8" collection embodies Goldberg’s evolving musical vocabulary, featuring exploratory cross-generational collaborations: Two duos, three trios, two quartets, and a quintet.A Legacy of Radical Improvised Music8 x 8 reflects decades of musical exploration. Raised in a household steeped in speech-communication research — a background that informs his rhythmically unique, speech-like phrasing — Goldberg honed his technique under clarinet master Rosario Mazzeo and studied with Joe Henderson and Steve Lacy.In the 1980s Goldberg’s New Klezmer Trio (with drummer Kenny Wollesen), injected the raw, spatial energy of avant-garde jazz into traditional structures, leading to collaborations with artists including Andrew Hill, Nels Cline, Bobby Bradford, and John Zorn. This musical heritage is fully realized across the "8 x 8" collection, capturing the sheer velocity of his current creative circles.

It's never just a tropical storm or hurricane. Life after the rock begins to roll down the mountain. New plants and insects have traveled with the storm. What does that mean to a simple small-time forest?

I’m always asking questions.  The fun begins when you start researching for answers. Such as…   What if the movie One Night Only was truly observed around the world, how would the world of religion react?  Plus…why does it feel like modern movies are written better today?   I’m Arroe…  I am a daily writer.  A silent wolf.  I stand on the sidelines and do nothing but watch, listen study then activate.  I call it The Daily Mess.  A chronological walk through an everyday world.  Yes, it’s my morning writing.  As a receiver of thoughts and ideas, we as people tend to throw it to the side and deal with it later.  When a subject arrives, I dig in.  It’s still keeping a journal!  By doing the research the picture becomes clearer.  This is the Daily Mess…

I'm guilty of it. Watching leaves fall from trees and thinking about how short of a life a leaf has. Does it? How often do you look beyond the final dance?

Two huge subjects that truly do have an impact on your life.  Bill procrastination.  Setting bills aside so you can afford food and fuel.  Plus, big grocery store chains want to change into digital tagging on the shelves and leaders are calling it wrong and very unsafe.

People with motivation and opinions surround us every day!  Your decision making is based on what they feed you.  Oh Oh... have you ever asked yourself the questions then questioned the answers?   The cold hard facts about stepping in a pile of dog crap... you can scrape it off your shoes but the smell never goes away.  Why are you wasting your time asking people for leadership when you've never started with yourself first.  You wear those shoes they don't.  Where the hell are they are two in the morning when your heart and soul can't stand the mental beating anymore?
