  • My Day Of Play Crazy Unedited Talks With Katfish The Band Plus Author Karen Lee Cohen
Welcome back to the studio.  This is My Day of Play, where you’re taken into the real events and actions of how it happens long before the process of editing or cleaning up.  The original purpose of these episodes was to give my broadcasting students something to edit, to practice with and to call their own.  Then I realized that you are just as important.  Share the reality of how it really went.  We begin things with Tommy Shoemake who originally formed Katfish as an acoustic duo that performs a variety of Outlaw Country, Southern Rock, contemporary and classic Pop and Rock hits. And we’ll wrap things up with motivator Karen Lee Cohen author of the book Lets Be Peace. This is My Day of Play.  Completely unedited in the way of meeting the wizard behind the curtain.

  • My Monster Truck Goes Everywhere From The Amazing Kathleen Marcath
American Sign Language is used by the deaf, hearing-impaired, and those who teach, live, and work with them, which totals up to around two million people in North America. But an award-winning and best-selling children’s book author, Kathleen Marcath, believes many more kids should learn ASL. “It provides many educational and social advantages,” she says.“What truly sets this book apart is its thoughtful inclusion of American Sign Language (ASL),” says the author of My Monster Truck Goes Everywhere with Me, and a companion book, My Monster Truck Goes Everywhere with Me: Coloring and Activity Book. Each page introduces children  new to ASL signs and helpful tips, seamlessly blending play with education. From the moment I opened the book, the integration of sign language stood out as both unique and valuable. It's rare to see a children's activity book that so beautifully encourages communication and inclusivity while remaining entertaining.
The learning opportunities feel endless. I could easily envision this being used not only at home but also within classroom settings. The educational value is immense, as children develop language, fine motor, and cognitive skills while discovering a new way to communicate through ASL. Her book is a vibrant new adventure in learning and play. Additionally, she has a 77-page color & activity book that provides fun and helps young readers discover the limitless potential of American Sign Language (ASL). Packed with variety, the coloring and activity book offers everything from sentence-writing practice and time-telling exercises to vocabulary building and art activities along with monster trucks, puzzles, mazes, early math, and writing prompts, this book gives children a hands-on way to explore language and build confidence through play. Whether your child is just beginning to sign or already loves ASL, they’ll find pages filled with laughter, challenge, and discovery.

In radio, we save our airchecks. It's the best way to measure personal growth and outreach. Why don't other businesses do the same for their employees? People everywhere talk out of tune, they 've made bad behavior the new cool and bosses won't hold anyone accountable because it would mean going through the process of hiring again. Aircheck your staff and win!

  • Day Of Epiphany From Author Jerome J Bourgault History Isn't Gone Forever
Day Of Epiphany by Canadian author/actor, Jerome J Bourgault is the recent winner of CANREADS Award for Historical Fiction 2026, available now on Amazon and Indigo.   Bourgault’s highly anticipated book is an exploration of a dark chapter in Canadian and specifically Quebecois history: the “Grande Noirceur” (“Great Darkness”) of 1944–1959.  The Catholic Church wielded its influence through the provincial government, controlling education, healthcare and orphanages. Day of Epiphany is both powerful and unsettling, as it examines the systemic abuse and scars left by religious institutions.  An uncomfortable reminder, some would prefer left alone…   Day Of Epiphany delivers why in shocking detail.Day of Epiphany takes place in 1950s Quebec as the province languishes under the oppressive dual authorities of the Roman Catholic Church and the autocratic government of Maurice Duplessis.  In the small town of St-Jolain, young Sister Cassandra Lalonde works tirelessly as a teacher at the Ste-Madeleine (Ste-M) Orphanage. It’s a difficult life for the children, but Cassandra has hope for four of Ste-M’s best and brightest young teens—Suzanne, Hélène, Diane, and Eleanora, with whom she has forged a powerful bond.  Day Of Epiphany is their journey. After an explosion closes the orphanage, the nuns and children return to find the rebuilt facility has been re-designated by the Duplessis government as a psychiatric hospital, and the orphans have been “reclassified” as mental patients. To make matters worse, Ste-M has been merged with a notoriously brutal psychiatric hospital from another parish, whose patients and staff are fully integrated with the resident population of the new Sainte-Madeleine Institute. In the living nightmare that follows, Sister Cassandra struggles to recognize God’s hand in such darkness. As casualties begin to mount, Cassandra must resort to increasingly drastic measures to protect those under her care.  Bourgault’s Day Of Epiphany is a must-read story of moral complexity, personal resilience, loss and redemption.

As America’s institution, the Smithsonian is honored to help lead the commemoration of the nation’s 250th anniversary. For nearly 200 years, the Smithsonian has preserved the objects, discoveries, and ideas that tell the American story by documenting the nation’s achievements, advancing scientific innovation and examining the ongoing pursuit of the ideals set forth in the Declaration of Independence. To mark this historic milestone, the Smithsonian has launched Our Shared Future: 250, a nationwide initiative featuring all-new exhibitions, programs and events unfolding across all 21 Smithsonian museums, the National Zoo and communities throughout the country. This initiative brings together the Smithsonian’s unparalleled collections, scholarship and expertise to explore America’s past, illuminate its present and invite Americans to imagine the future they are shaping together. To discuss this initiative is Monique M. Chism, Under Secretary for Education at the Smithsonian Institution.
