We share the same "very skeptical yet loves conspiracy and fantasy" duality of the brain, where we consistently flip in between the two throughout the day, thus love both believing in aliens and disproving them.

In this episode we focus on Text Breaks -- the little icons/doodles that separate scenes within chapters or signal a change in location. Using Inkscape, I show you the process I take to create these fun little graphics while giving some tips and ideas on how to personalize your own.

We're kicking May off with JAMES MUSGRAVE, a venerated Indie Author currently residing in the sunny West Coast of the United States. He's won a myriad of awards for his writing pieces and has a fondness for anthologies/short stories.

His three most recent works (all releasing, or have been released, this year) are some of the most imaginative plots I've heard to date.

"The Dancing Murders", a high-octane murder mystery with twists you won't see coming!

"The Valley of the Dogs: Dark Stories" is a story told from the eyes of an English Bulldog--Gus, that happens to be Lady Gaga's therapy dog. Doggy-nappers, beach-side hiijinks, and lots of wit fill the pages of this tale! SIDENOTE: Neotino actually designed the cover for "Valley of the Dogs", as well as Gus!

Lastly, his newest work is something completely on a leaf of his own. James has taken the "Choose Your Adventure" Fantasy Tales from our childhood and flipped it on its head, creating the first ever (that I'm aware of anyway) "Choose Your Suspect" Murder Mystery!

Ending #IndieApril with a bang! Today we have a cross-over episode of Two (Yes, Two!) book-centered podcasts -- The Book Shrine Podcast, hosted by Lalig & Mary (aka Renee); and A.R.'s Tales (aka The A.R.T. Podcast) hosted by me, A.R. Mirabal

This week's groupcast is a change of pace as Lalig and Mary aren't authors (yet) but have a deep passion for literature and good prose. Episode #55 - I'm joined this week by Adrian Santiago, fellow Indie Author and host of BOOKS BY ADRIAN -- an AuthorTube channel that focuses on authors and the publishing scene.

Adrian is a fellow Breaking Bad fanatic so we vibe on a lot of what makes stories engaging to us and visualizing our work as movies / TV shows. He's also a true believer and card-holding member of the world building fantasy club so we see each other at the meetings.

His upcoming debut, SHADOW OF THE SPARK, is a "kitchen-sink" fiction (as Adrian puts it) meaning it incorporates multiple different genres and touches on a myriad of themes. It was a blast riffing with him on the lore of his work as it's rooted in science fiction fantasy which is right up my alley.

The reason I call this the "Disaster-cast" is because every single thing that could go wrong, did (guess I could've called it the Murphy's Law Episode but that ship's already sailed). I'm officially back in production mode for "Iris of Mercy, Part 1" which is set to be Book 2 in the "Death of Order" series that "Allegory of the End, Vol: I" kicks off. It's the story of Haz/Alis during the 20 year skip from the first book and fills in some holes left from Allegory - Volume I, while setting the stage for Volume II.
