The A’s exploded early on offense against the Braves in Sacramento, opening a commanding 5–0 lead through a historic inside-the-park homer by Lawrence Butler, followed by homers from Rooker and Muncy—all in the first inning. Butler then homered again in the third, and Nick Kurtz delivered a career-first grand slam. The bullpen kept the momentum, culminating in a decisive 10–1 victory.
