Also, as shared with the other disclaimers also that some of the terms that I've used have been changed interchangeably over the years while it's been classified in the DSM-5.  Don't assume after meeting me or hearing me that you know other autistics as each autistic are different.

This topic I am sharing with you today isn't in the DSM-5 manual anymore yet thought to share this as it is still classified as one of the specifics for autism spectrum disorders. I shared with you all what it is, the diagnosis, why it doesn't exist anymore, signs and symptoms, causes, and treatments. A keynote here:  This topic will be on my channel also at a later date.

This is to welcome my listeners back to another episode which is all about Autism. In this one, today I talked about an overview of what they'll likely be hearing of the topics that I feel to share.  Some of these topics will also be on my YouTube channel as well.

    What is autism?

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a broad term used to describe a group of neurodevelopmental disorders. These conditions are characterized by problems with communication and social interaction. People with ASD often demonstrate restricted, repetitive, and stereotyped interests or patterns of behavior.

There are many different types of autism that are now classified in the DSM-5 that were released worldwide as Autism Spectrum Disorder or more in short Autism Spectrum. Some of the diagnosis that I've shared isn't in the DSM-5 now as they decided to leave it as Autism for most of the diagnoses that has been made for people.

Come and join me to learn more about this very first part of the episode before I go into depth with all the next series after this one.

As an autistic person with a host of mental health conditions, I have been talking about autism and mental health on youtube. It is truly an honor and humbling to see you gain any value from me sharing my experiences. But as a YouTuber, as a content creator, there are challenges to talking about autism and mental health that I wanted to share with you. This is really to show you that I genuinely care about the autism and mental health community and want to talk about my autism experiences in a way that is right for me & for you to watch. This topic I shared was on my channel to raise awareness/acceptance of autism and people like me with autism. share about me and what I think about Autism Awareness, embracing change, embracing being different, celebrating Autism, the history of the Autistic Alliance group, etc.

What I share with you in how I go about managing my autism will vary from person to person and that what may work for me, may not work for you and what will work for you may not work for me and vice versa. So, please be considerate while I give you all my advice and/or tips.

Why be normal? Normal is so overrated these days. We are born to have a reason and a purpose in life. We're born to stand out and make a difference in this world today. Why should we be like everyone else? We should be able to live our lives accordingly with no judgment and being able to be ourselves and not let others tell us on how or what we should say, act or think.
