Bobby Kerr spoke to author Alan O'Neill on his new book Culture Matters: The Four Must-Have Values to Supercharge Your Business. O'Neill says strategy is the what of businesses, but the culture is the how the business operates. Culture is how people within the company behave and how the company behaves as an entity. The author says that culture is defined through stated values, however he warns that some companies simply pay lip-service to the idea of culture and regard it as a box-ticking exercise. Stated values must be lived in order to have maximum positive impact.
