When Nick Gray moved to New York City, he didn’t know anyone. He began going to different kinds of events and parties to meet people, but he quickly became disappointed that he still wasn’t connecting with anyone. He soon realized that what he needed were better parties, so he decided to host his own. Through hosting over five hundred of his own parties, Nick learned what a successful party looked like, and people soon sought him out for party-hosting advice.
In this episode of “Authors Who Lead,” I talk with Nick about his book, The 2-Hour Cocktail Party: How to Build Big Relationships with Small Gatherings, and his journey going from hosting museum tours to hosting successful parties.

Early in Mara Glatzel’s career, she worked as a therapist and had some interest in coaching, but she was feeling burnt out. At that time, burnout was more of a badge of honor, and there weren’t many conversations about self-care for mental health professionals. But she did enjoy writing her successful body-image blog on the side, which led her to learn more about becoming an entrepreneur. Building her own business helped her do what she loved and changed every aspect of her life.
In this episode of “Authors Who Lead,” I talk with Mara about her journey building her business and how she overcame self-doubt to write her book, Needy: How to Advocate for Your Needs and Claim Your Sovereignty.

As a financial advisor, Gayle Colman always thought that she and other advisors could do better. They taught all the right plans, answers, and numbers so that people could thrive, but even when their clients did everything right, they weren’t at the happiness and success levels they thought they should be. Gayle then started asking questions about bringing the wisdom of our bodies into the matters of money, and the words “somatic finance” came to her in response.
In this episode of “Authors Who Lead,” I talk with Gayle Colman about her journey discovering somatic finance, about her book, The Body of Money: A Self-Help Guide to Creating Sustainable Wealth through Innate Intelligence, and why you should listen to your body when it comes to your finances.

Writing a book can be a challenging but rewarding experience. Before you start, it's important to think about what you want to achieve with your book and who your target audience is.
You'll also need to consider the time and effort required to write a book, and make a plan for staying motivated and on track. Remember that writing is a skill that can be developed with practice, so don't be discouraged if you encounter obstacles along the way. With persistence and dedication, you can bring your book to life and share your story with the world.
Ted Smith agrees that writing a book can be a challenging but rewarding experience. As a member of our “Authors Who Lead” community, Ted wrote and published his first book and is writing his second. Being familiar with the process and journey of writing, he now feels he can concentrate more on his creative side and be in more flow as he writes.
In this episode of “Authors Who Lead,” I talk with Ted Smith about his journey writing his book, Healthy Me, Happy We: Transforming Relationships with Yourself and Others, and how writing his second book has been a very different experience. If you haven’t yet listened to our previous podcast with Ted, you can listen to Episode 154 where we discuss in more detail his journey with writing his first book.
