You’ve got a lot riding on your tires. When do you need new ones? How often do you need to rotate them? How do you rotate them? Can you rotate them? These are my questions – what are yours?

Recalls: Every recall is serious, so it’s important that you contact an authorized service center or your local dealer as soon as possible. Automakers issue recalls to fix defects, or sometimes just to check for them. Every owner of a recalled model will be contacted by mail to bring their car to an authorized service center or dealer for evaluation. Any defective parts will be replaced at no cost to the car owner.

Every recall is registered with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. NHTSA is also often responsible for requesting a recall after investigating common safety problems or receiving complaints from owners, however, these don’t always lead to car recalls.

According to the Federal Communications Commission, auto warranty robocalls are the most common telephone scam in America. The agency receives more complaints about extended car warranty scams than about any other subject.

Simply put, never respond to a phone call about a car warranty unless you placed the call. Scammers may even know what type of vehicle you drive. In some states, that information is public and easy to obtain. But no reputable car warranty company will ever call you to offer you a plan.

Recalls for the week:

• Volvo 2001-07 V70s and XC70s Wagons: Faulty Airbag Inflators To resolve this potentially deadly issue, dealers will replace the driver-side airbag for free. Volvo will begin notifying owners Dec. 14, but those with additional questions can call the automaker at 800-458-1552
• Ram 2021-22 2500 and 3500 HD pickups, as well as 3500, 4500 and 5500 chassis cabs, and all are equipped with the Cummins 6.7-liter turbo-diesel engine are being recalled for Fire Risk. Ram advises that owners whose trucks are equipped with the affected engine and produced between Aug. 2, 2020, and Oct. 9, 2021, should not park indoors. No remedy has yet been announced, but owners will be notified starting Dec. 3. Those with questions can call Ram parent automaker Stellantis at 800-853-1403

Tennessee lawmakers are considering a bill that would bring criminal immunity to drivers who hit protesters illegally blocking the road. As a car enthusiast I've wondered about this for a few years and even taking the time to call my manufacturer only be told nothing with regards to what they collect, how they collect it and view it and or who owns it. Americans generally don't care about privacy as you can tell with our lack of cell phone data privacy laws so I doubt they'll care about their car tracking them either until the insurance company denies a claim because of the data that they acquired without your knowledge and brought before a court. More people should be concerned about this.

 Don't forget we can look to Europe for privacy laws and see what they do there cuz I assure you this is not allowed in the EU.  Great topic!

Recalls for the LAST COUPLE OF weeks:

• Ram 1500, 1500 Classic, 2500 and 3500 pickup trucks have an airbag issue.
• Hyundai and Kia are issuing separate recalls  for 2016-20 model years. The issue concerns a damaged trunk latch.
• 2021 Audi and Volkswagen vehicles with malfunctioning seat belt retractors
• 2020-22 Cadillac’s CT4s and CT5s are now being recalled for an issue concerning the roof-rail side curtain airbags.
• BMWs, Toyota Supras, and  Z4s. Dealers need to update the engine management software.
• BMWs, Minis, Rolls-Royce, and Toyota Supras have a seat belt retractor recall.
• 2021 and 2022 Ford Transit and Transit Connect vans are being recalled for an issue with the locking retractor on a passenger seat belt.
• 2018-20 model-year Subarus have a faulty fuel pump
