The Colorado Avalanche and the rest of the NHL got their free agency season underway, and the Avs made a couple of moves over the weekend to start filling the holes in their roster.

In typical recent Avalanche fashion, none of the moves were groundbreaking, as the club brought in Miles Wood on a $2.5 AAV deal with a somewhat surprising 6-year term. They also took a swing on a one year deal for Jonathan Drouin in hopes he can recapture the Halifax Moosheads magic he once had with Nathan MacKinnon.

But were there other moves the team could have made? Several players were taking short-term, low-dollar deals and you have to wonder if the Avs were in on those, or the player wanted to go elsewhere.
