Snow has started to fall throughout much of the Western US and Europe, so this discussion is timely.
Today’s guest is Doug Bernard. He is a Green Beret who is also an avalanche instructor, certified ski guide and apprentice alpine guide. He has been operating in the mountains for a long time. It also took me a while to get him to agree to talk on the podcast. He is one of those silent professionals who doesn’t like to publicly share but he is exactly the type of person that I want to have on the podcast.
In the US there are four general different types of avalanche education.
